Job Overview:
A Certified Backflow Tester and Maintenance Technician is responsible for inspecting, testing, and maintaining backflow prevention devices in plumbing systems to ensure they comply with local regulations and standards.
They play a crucial role in preventing cross-contamination of water supplies and safeguarding public health.
Key Responsibilities:

Device Inspection:
- Conduct visual inspections of backflow prevention devices to check for visible signs of damage, corrosion, or wear.
- Ensure that the devices are installed correctly and are in proper working condition.

Testing:
- Perform regular tests on backflow prevention devices to ensure they meet specified performance standards.
- Utilize specialized testing equipment to measure pressure differentials and ensure the devices function as intended.
- Record and document test results accurately.

Maintenance:
- Clean, repair, or replace components of backflow prevention devices as necessary to ensure their proper functioning.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks to prevent device malfunction.

Documentation:
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, tests, and maintenance activities for compliance and reporting purposes.
- Complete necessary paperwork and documentation to demonstrate compliance with local regulations.

Compliance:
- Stay up-to-date with local, state, and federal regulations related to backflow prevention and ensure compliance.
- Keep abreast of changes in industry standards and best practices.

Communication:
- Interact with property owners, contractors, and regulatory agencies to schedule inspections, discuss findings, and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
- Communicate any non-compliance issues and the need for repairs or replacements to the relevant parties.

Qualifications:
- Certification: Must hold a valid certification as a Backflow Prevention Device Tester for LA, Orange or Ventura Counties
- Knowledge: A strong understanding of plumbing systems and backflow prevention devices.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in using testing equipment and tools related to backflow prevention.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills to interact with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
- Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail to perform accurate inspections and tests.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and address issues with backflow prevention devices effectively.
- Physical Fitness: Some physical strength may be required for tasks like lifting and maneuvering heavy equipment.
