We’re currently seeking a Construction Manager to join our Headquarters team in our Los Angeles Market!
The ideal candidate will possess hands-on knowledge of ground-up commercial construction in all aspects, preferably in a national/regional retail environment, and will successfully manage multiple projects at one time.
Excellent planning and communication skills are critical for success in this position.
This includes coordination with external vendor partners and internal teams to successfully open new stores on time, within budget, and at a level of quality that meets or exceeds Mister’s standards.
What you will do:
• Manage construction of new ground-up facilities with competing timelines from conception to completion including internal specific onsite inspections throughout the project lifecycle
• Review and track project schedule and overall progress from general contractors
• Report project process to Director of Construction weekly
• Conduct weekly owner-architect-contractor meetings
• Review and approve general contractor change orders, pay applications and lien waivers through Procore
• Review subcontractor's submittals with project architect and engineers as needed.
• Coordinate and schedule deliveries of owner-provided and general contractor installed items
• Provide collaboration with team members and management of general contractors and third-party vendor partner
• Review general contractor bids with Director of Construction to qualify, provide questions and feedback to general contractor and estimating department
• Identify, communicate, and apply value engineering principles to increase facility efficiencies
• Avoid issues through proper planning, forecast potential issues, and resolve issues when they emerge
• Listen actively and communicate across the entire Mister team
How you will shine:
• Must be able to lift, push, pull, bend up to 50 lbs.
, climb ladders, maneuver scaffolding, and walk concrete footings and trenches to complete Mister onsite required inspections
• A minimum of 5 years in commercial retail construction as a construction manager, project manager, superintendent, or related field
• Ability to work in an office, remotely and while traveling
• Ability to travel 50% of the year
• Fluent and have first-hand at reading blueprints/schematics, knowledgeable about current building codes, building means, and methods
• Ability to organize, schedule and conduct meeting
• Ability to understand, apply and conduct company policies, procedures, and site inspections
• Excellent verbal and written communication, project management, and interpersonal skills with a high level of attention to organization and detail
• Work fluidly with all real estate, design, development, construction, and operations team members
• Familiar with the steps to obtain and create utility installation
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, architecture, civil engineering, or a related field a plus
• Experience in Adobe, Bluebeam, and Procore is a plus
• Car wash experience is a plus but is not required
