We are looking for a reliable, dedicated entry-level Quality Control Inspector with a strong eye for detail and a desire to work with a company that offers amazing benefits and long-term opportunities for growth.
We are hiring for our plant: *2nd Shift (Mon-Thurs, 3:20pm to 2:05am)*.

*Job Summary* The Quality Control Inspector will be responsible for ensuring that we make products that meet specifications and strictly comply with F.
Gaviña & Sons, Inc.
Quality Systems standards using a variety of inspection processes and lab equipment.
This position must also ensure that the equipment as well as the characteristics of every different type of coffee produced during a shift are inspected and verified according to required procedures and specifications.
*ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS* * Take daily coffee samples for inspection to ensure that they meet characteristic specifications for type, color, grind, weight, recipe, production dates, and other pertinent information, and record the data in the QC electronic records system.
* Inspect the coffee silos in the plant to confirm that all settings and identification information, including Grinder initials, silo numbers, weights, production and expiration dates, and Out-Gasses are accurately documented.
* Verify daily production sheet information, lot numbers, batch tickets and use a scanner to check UPC and GTIN codes.
* Inspect all packaging and labeling, including film impression for production or expiration date, lot #, weight code, UPC, product name, operator number, ingredients, and weight to make sure that it matches content.
* Test the level of oxygen or vacuum pressure of packed coffee (depending on the packaging type).
* Test the appearance, length, width, and shape of coffee bags as well as valve placement, holes, and adhesion and enter the data into the QC electronic records system.
* Collect samples of all product and packing materials for every new installation and shift per the instructions listed on the changeover requirements.
* Verify brew test for soft and espressos pods and espresso products daily * Verify Organic and Decaf product in the different stages of the production process using the tracking form.
* Conduct and document metal detection x-ray tests on product as required * Collect coffee samples to be sent to customers, clients and the QA department for sensory testing.
* Inspect all machines as required at every started up, at every changeover of the product, and every 30-60 minutes thereafter during production.
* Support production and second shift as needed.
* Additional tasks, testing, data collection and documentation as directed by management.
* Inform management of inconsistencies, inaccuracies, or other issues with product in a timely manner to avoid production of product and loss of raw materials * Complete Hold & Release forms for non-conforming products to document when they are not in compliance with product specifications.
* Perform all duties safely and in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices and standards as defined by the company.
*JOB SPECIFICATIONS* * One to three (1-3) years of experience in food inspection and/or the manufacturing of consumable products, or equivalent education in food science * Ability to read, write and speak English required * Knowledge of tools, measuring and weighing equipment, gauges, and other equipment common to laboratories * Requires extremely high accuracy, strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills * MUST wear required personal protective or safety gear and equipment * Reading comprehension: must be able to understand written sentences and information provided in work orders, specifications and other work-related and safety communications.
* Must be reliable with an outstanding and dedicated work ethic * Exceptional communication skills and that ability to collaborate with other departments to inform them of production issues in a tactful and respectful manner * Basic math skills * Ability to work with computers and accurately enter data as needed *Physical Requirements:* * Requires standing for extended periods of time; between 8 to 12 hours or more * Able to safely lift and carry packaged products and raw materials * Hands and fingers with dexterity to document data and work with product, equipment parts and controls * Must be able to work with varying degrees of noise and environmental temperatures * Vision: ability to monitor gauges, dials or other indicators as well as read specifications * Ability to stand, bend, twist and climb ladders as needed * Hearing: must be able to hear potential packaging or equipment malfunctions and/or alarms *Rate*: Negotiable depending on experience.
