Job Summary
Merchant Bankcard Acquisition Sales Representative is responsible for acquiring new merchant business customers through networking and developing business relationships.
This position will assist customers to determine their business needs in terms of payment processing solutions, prepare sales proposals and close deals.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Develop and maintain a referral and prospecting network with customers/clients, peers, operations and other external centers of influence, spending approximately 75% of time in the field.
Build solid relationships with new and existing customers and increase client revenues and profitability.
Identify local businesses to procure merchant services and banking relationships by developing customer-centered sales strategies, analyzing merchant statements, communicating directly with business owners about merchant services.
Communicate with business owners on a daily basis.
Responsible for leading and communicating key changes and initiatives to clients, client-facing and relationship management teams.
Meet and exceed annual Merchant Services growth goals and profitability.
Perform Direct Sales by selling merchant services to businesses that have an existing relationship with Mission Valley Bank and to local businesses.
Responsible for making pricing recommendations for merchant services within policy guidelines, and ensure completion of all applications and equipment forms in support of submitting new account opportunities.
Work with the marketing department to find solutions best suited to promoting and marketing Merchant Services.
Network, attend community events, and contact leads, and schedule appointments to sell Bank's payment processing services, which include merchant accounts for credit, debit and ACH processing.
Effectively answer questions and communicate solutions to prospective customers.
Manage sales pipeline and update reports.
Collect application along with any required documentation for underwriting purposes.
Partner with operations team to ensure seamless transition
Maintain up to date industry knowledge and may train others on products, services, departmental systems, and related technology, policies and procedures.

Education And/Or Experience
Bachelor's degree and 3 years of merchant services experience
Minimum of 3 years of experience in banking operations with knowledge of banking regulations.
Must be goal oriented, a self-starter, and must have an outgoing personality.
Prior bankcard experience is a significant plus, but is not required.
Analytical skills coupled with the ability to think and act independently and creatively.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy; good organizational, research and follow-up skills.
Ability to interact with all levels of clients, staff, and management.
Ability to work successfully in a deadline driven, team environment.
Exceptional customer service, sales and relationship building skills.
Strong PC skills, (system knowledge) and excel and word.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
Physical Demands
This is primarily a sedentary position that requires extensive computer work.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; sit and use hands to type, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
The employee is occasionally required to walk, stoop and kneel.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
In the performance of the duties of this job the employee is required to travel, drive a motor vehicle, and communicate using telephone and e-mail.
