I am a 54 gay male who recently moved out of the tech and design sectors to move back into the humanitarian sector after a long hiatus through accepting an AmeriCorps fellowship with a focus on emergency and disaster preparedness and relief while moving through the application process to become a California park ranger.
I'm a health and audiophile by nature.
In my ha-Om, haha, I seek peace.
I'm a long time yoga practitioner, part time yoga teacher, and certified massage therapist.
I have been living in this two bedroom 6 blocks from the beach and two blocks from Abbot Kinney for two years and, in order to make the change in careers work, I need to get a roommate.
I'm listing this as a room for rent rather than a full share of the two bedroom mainly because the living room is small and my very loving older dog (pictured below) has taken over the couch and he and I spend much of our free evening time there.
Of course, that doesn't mean you couldn't join us! I'm open to changing this arrangement for the right person.
The rent for the room is exactly 1/2 of the current rent but I do expect the rent to rise once I get a roommate and so most likely I will be paying the added amount around $1700 which I think is fair since I would get the living room much of the time.
If this turned into a friendship that would be great but no pressure!
The most important thing is a good personality fit.
I am extremely considerate and conscientious and am looking for someone who is also.
This means being conscious of how we affect one another and how we leave common areas and can discuss needs without being defensive.
I don't care what you do with your own space but general cleanliness in shared spaces is important to me.
You must be a non-smoker and generally conscious about health.
I rarely, if ever, cook raw meat at home.
Cooking raw meat with every meal would be a downer for me especially since the living room and the kitchen are adjoined.
I eat meat on occasion out of the house or might bring something home and warm it up.
Ultimately, it's an ecological choice for me.
I'm generally an optimistic person and peace is my absolute must have.
If you invite drama, we are not a match.
Life happens, of course, but you should be working on responding rather than reacting.
Mind is fallible and we all make mistakes but as long as peace is a goal, we will get
along.
Cheers!
The kitchen is fully stocked but I can make room for all of your stuff.
I love getting rid of stuff! The bathroom has two medicine cabinets, one for each of us.
I drive a motorcycle and we could share the single parking spot.
There is always plenty of street parking.
My job is remote but I commute to special events during the day many days of the week.
