Accountant
Job Description
Reports to: Senior Accountant, VP of Accounting, and/or Executive Team
The Property Accountant should be an intelligent, self-motivated individual, adept at problem solving, who will have the opportunity to anticipate the needs of the company as we expand our management portfolio and contribute to achieving those goals.
All candidates must also be able to pass a criminal background check and be subject to a drug and substance abuse test.
The Property Accountant will:
Prepare and review monthly property financial statements, general ledgers, and reconciliations to ensure accurate representation of property activity in accordance with GAAP.
Perform day to day accounting for the property management company.
Includes recording cash account transactions, invoices, paying bills, calculating management fees, allocating expenses and billing properties, reconciling bank accounts and all necessary general ledger entries to record day to day activities of the PMC.
Ensure biweekly payroll is allocated and funded accurately and on time.
Supervise accounts payable process for property check runs to ensure proper documentation and approvals, accurate coding, timely payment of vendors and appropriate sales and use tax handling.
Analyze and implement financial and reporting requirements in accordance with settlement statement, partnership agreement, loan and purchase and sale agreements.
Prepare purchase accounting entries and allocation of expenses and revenues with seller.
Collaborate with asset management and regional and property staff in developing annual budgets.
Will be responsible for 10-12 properties across the United States.
Desired Skills/Qualifications:
BS in Accounting and minimum 7 years of real estate experience at a property accountant level, preferred.
Thorough understanding of property and partnership accounting in accordance with GAAP.
Prior experience with Real Page/Resman property management software, a plus.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a diverse and fast-paced environment.
Must be detail-oriented, highly analytical, and have strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

This position involves extensive sitting for long periods of times in front of a computer, stooping, kneeling, moderate stress, light lifting and carrying.
The primary location is inside but may include work done outside and could include work around traffic areas, slippery or uneven walk areas, and exposure to dust, insects, animals, weather, humidity, and the public.
The pay range for this role is:
70,000 - 75,000 USD per year (united states)
