are you sure you're into metal? :p )
Yo,
I'm a 31 year old guitar player, looking to form a mostly-original metal band.
If the band is down, I'd also like to cover some anime/video game music and metalize them to a degree (check out Animetal USA for reference - the Chris Impellitteri/Rudy Sarzo lineup is the one).
I've been playing guitar for 18 years - I have opened for Steel Panther, Unleash the Archers, Steve Morse, Sonata Arctica, Metalachi, and a few other notable acts while touring the east coast.
Musically, I tend to fall somewhere between the 'thrash' and 'NWOTHM' subgenres of metal - examples of modern influences would be Havok, Skull Fist, Gallow's End, Steelwing, Warrior Path, Hatchet; and old school: Paul Gilbert/Racer X, Dio, Megadeth, GNR.
I am generally the sole composer in my projects, but I am not opposed to other contributors (I don't really write lyrics, however).
My writing process is to compose the songs on guitar, then tab everything out in GuitarPro (or compatible software), and then send it to the rest of the band.
I may include drum hits/bass lines in key places, but generally your instrument's contribution would be up to you.
The band will be vocals, bass, drums, and maybe a second guitar (if you have backing vox and/or keyboard skills that would be sweet).
Not interested in a full-time keyboard player, but some of the covers might necessitate one, so I'd be interested in having guest musicians on those tracks for live shows.
Shoot me an email if you're interested and tell me a bit about yourself (incl.
any samples if you'd like), and I'll reply with some examples of my most relevant work.
