Vintage Tobias Bass Guitar - $2,875 (LAX)

Up for sale is an early 90's Tobias bass guitar.
Serial# 198x.
It is ALL original and is in good shape.
It does have some minor dings near the input jack and in the back but nothing major.
No buckle rash.
It still has the original factory protective paper cover on the back plate.
The bass features maple body with beautiful flamed maple top finish and neck-thru-body maple wedge neck with rosewood fret board.
Electronics consist of two Bartolini pickups, Active preamp with active/passive switch, and 3-band EQ ( perfect for adjusting sound from Slap / punchy tones to Rock in low-end bottom).
This bass looks, sounds and, most importantly, plays great.
Based on the serial#, beautiful flamed maple top and the presence of active electronics, it appears that this bass is a classic model(C4) produced under Michael Tobias's supervision during early 1990's before Gibson finally took over the production of Tobias bass guitars in 1992.
According to Wikipedia; In 1990 Gibson Guitar Corporation purchased Tobias and moved production to Nashville.
The first Tobias bass under Gibson ownership bore the serial number 1094.
Michael Tobias left the company in 1992 to found Michael Tobias Design which produces a line of hand-made basses similar in spirit to the older Tobias basses.
Basses below the serial number 2044 were built in the California factory headed-up by Michael Tobias; serial numbers after that were produced by Gibson with a transition period in which Tobias worked with Gibson and continued to produce basses.
Based on the serial#, I would think that this Tobias bass qualifies for being a 'pre-Gibson'.
I am the second owner of the bass and purchased it from the original owner who bought it new during early 1990's.
I am not a Tobias bass expert by any means, so please do your own research before inquiring.
The bass comes with the original Tobias hardshell tolex case.
