Dear Steinway lover.
In 1966 at age 19, my father gave me the best present I could ever ask for: a Steinway grand piano.
I absolutely fell in love with that magnificent instrument! By then I had performed in many recitals and had being the soloist of several Symphony Orchestras.
And for the rest of my life I only owned Steinways.
In 1984 I became a Steinway Artist and had the honor of having dinner with John Steinway.
His personal insights about the manufacturing of a Steinway were invaluable! John inspired me from that day on to learn further about the “secrets” that made Steinway such a magnificent piano.
For the last 30 years, I have given lectures and master classes in Colleges and Universities about Piano History and Technology and the 300 years of evolution that culminated in the glory of Steinway, the best piano of all time! My passion for Steinway and the technical knowledge I acquired encouraged me to collect and invest in models from the 1910's to the1930's, unanimously considered as the finest ever built.
They are unique! But I bought only those with their original mechanical parts in excellent state of preservation.
Never rebuilt ones! Rebuilders can’t match in their small shop the original quality of the Steinway factory.
At age 77 now, I need to depart from one of my wonderful Model M.
