Role Summary:
The Instrument Technician is responsible for ensuring Flowserve products and equipment are inspected, manufactured, assembled, calibrated, and tested according to Flowserve procedures and certifying agency requirements.
This position will require the retention of certification records.
The Instrument Technician will also work with engineers and other technicians on basic design.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate - Calibrate, adjust, repair, and maintain all measuring devices, gages, and test equipment to comply with quality standards
Assist in the justification process for new or improved gauging and test equipment needs
Collect and maintain calibration records electronically and in paper form (where applicable)
Run reports and track costs associated with gage calibration, repair, and replacement
Assure that all outsourced calibration is traceable as per standards outlined by the National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) including preparing of purchase orders for calibrating of gages
Create NCR’s to communicate non-conforming product issue to the responsible people
Train shop personnel in the proper use and care of measuring and test equipment
Repurpose and/or inventory all unused gages for dispersal to other sites as equipment needs dictate
Update certification records as products and standards are changed
Operate PMIfor metal analysis and verification
Meet with vendors to establish Flowserve Quality requirements
Follow all safety procedures and policies
Self-motivated and able to work with minimal or no supervision
Other duties as assigned
Experience/Skills:
HS Diploma/GED AND 3 or more years’ experience as a calibration technician
Experience in quality control or quality assurance inspection
Experience with diagnostic testing
Ability to operate a Multimeter
Understand NDE (radiography, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, ultrasonic examination)
ASTM standards as applicable to material requirements and QA codes
Dexterity to use hand tools, ability to see and read fine print and markings, and able to lift 50 pounds
Good oral and written communication skills
Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and basic computer skills
The pay minimum for this role is $36.
82 based on our collective bargaining agreement.
