*ORGANIZATIONAL/PROGRAM BACKGROUND:*
Central City Neighborhood Partners (CCNP) was established in 1994 and incorporated as a formal non-profit collaborative in 2000 to address the socio-economic conditions impacting low-income families living in the Central City, Westlake and Pico-Union communities.
With the mission of catalyzing partnerships to systemically address the multiple challenges facing low-income families, CCNP works with its partners to help families create pathways to financial security and economic opportunity through our Financial Opportunity Center (FOC).
The FOC program is funded by LISC.
The FOC is a career and personal finance service center that helps low-to moderate-income people build smart money habits and focus on the financial bottom line by providing integrated employment and career counseling, one-on-one financial coaching and education and low-cost financial products that help build credit, savings and assets.
The FOC also connects clients with income support such as food stamps, utilities assistance and affordable health insurance.
*Position Overview* The Career Coach provides direct services for low-to moderate-income individuals who are enrolled as Financial Opportunity Center participants.
This person will interact with employers, service providers, and neighborhood residents.
The successful candidate will augment the employment component of the Financial Opportunity Center (FOC) by (1) identifying employment sectors and employers able to hire FOC participants from CCNP’s targeted neighborhoods; (2) assisting FOC participants in identifying long-term career aspirations and develop steps for achieving their goals; (3) preparing FOC participants for employment opportunities through individual coaching on job search techniques, interview etiquette, resume development and related topics; and (4) helping FOC participants connect with employment or skills training to secure employment and to advance to a better job.
The Career Coach will also hold workshops, network and maintain relationships to actively promote career opportunities.
*Career Coach *will perform a broad range of duties spanning the full employment cycle, including, but not limited to providing expert counsel, support and/or monitoring of the following: * Design and implement outreach strategies to promote and encourage use of employment services by employers, residents and community stakeholders; * Screen participants for program eligibility and conduct intake and orientation; * Interview participants to assess interest/qualifications for employment training and/or placement; * Provide career coaching, follow up, and job retention services; * Instruct participants in job seeking application procedures, resume writing, interview preparation and job retention skills and attitudes through one-on-one career coaching and/or workshops; * Initiate and maintain ongoing personal contacts with a variety of business and industry representatives and job placement/training agencies to promote the program for participant placement; * Ability to communicate the benefits and employment support services provided by the program to employers, including addressing employer’s special needs; * Work with employers to identify specific skills they are seeking and developing a process for participants to acquire those skills; * Understand how and where to search for job leads; keeps current with trends and maintains updated labor market information obtained through research; * Collect data from employers related to job orders, including job requirements and skills; * Ability to successfully match job skills with applicant qualifications; * Keep updated regarding job fairs and internet resources; and participates in outreach and recruitment activities by attending job fairs; * Work as a member of the cross-functional team to provide integrated employment, financial coaching and income support services to participants and their families served by sharing information, participating in team meetings, and helping to track and report progress outcomes; * Ensure that all clients activities are documented and in compliance with the program objective; * Ensure confidentiality of all records and maintain individual client files; * Collect and compile customer data for program assessment and evaluation purposes and incorporate customer success stories and anecdotes into program reports; may include preparing and entering data into various data tracking systems, and pulling/reviewing pre-set reports as needed by funder or for program evaluation purposes; * Track participant activity, progress and outcomes through SalesForce; * Attend and actively participate in team meetings, in-service trainings, staff development meetings, and all required FOC meetings, conferences and trainings; * Assist and participate in the planning and coordination of monthly, quarterly, and yearly events for FOC participants and their families, including community resource fairs and special events.
* Monitor and input digital literacy services to ensure contract compliance * Coordinate data entry of services into FOC database, including review of eligibility on daily basis * Manage and coordinate Community Outreach initiatives on social media and in person.
* Organize and facilitate CCNP Microsoft Digital Literacy trainings * Assist customers with applying for benefits including but not limited to EDD unemployment, DPSS benefits, transportation, and utility discounts.
* Assist with coordination and monitoring of social media posting as needed * Establishes and maintains collaborative working relationships with community resources; develops community resources and referrals; works with other team members on facilitating events as needed; * Maintain up-to-date files and complete documentation in all client files as needed, including documentation of all meetings, referrals, and supportive services delivered * Other duties as assigned by supervisor and executive leadership.
*QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS* * Experience in career coaching and employment placement; * Knowledge and experience integrating financial coaching and income supports within employment services; * Empathetic listener and non-judgmental interviewing skills; * Creative problem solver and ability to take initiative; * Excellent work ethic and ability to work under pressure, address multiple priorities and meet deadlines; * Ability to maintain appropriate, professional boundaries and confidentiality; * Excellent organizational and administrative skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects in a timely manner and complete high quality and timely documentation; * Excellent interpersonal communication and writing skills; * Culturally competent in working with the public and individuals with various cultural and economic backgrounds and abilities.
* Friendly, dependable and flexible team player with the ability to use tact and diplomacy in communication and adapt to changes in a busy work environment while maintaining effectiveness and efficiency; * Ability to maintain cooperative, diplomatic working relationships with co-workers, supervisors and the public.
