The Mobile Health Unit Medical Assistant supports professional services offered by Eisner’s mobile health fleet.
The position works under the direction of the Mobile Health Unit Manager to support community needs through partnerships with local organizations.
Together, they are responsible for delivering mobile, high-quality, cost-efficient, culturally sensitive health services, compliance with all federal, state, and local agency policies and procedures, and for the fulfillment Eisner Health’s mission.
The Mobile Health Unit Medical Assistant performs any combination of the following duties under the guidance of a physician or health care provider.
Assist in the set-up of the examination area, performing ordered treatments for patients, interviewing patients, measuring, and documenting vital signs in the chart, and other duties assigned by the Mobile Health Unit Manager.

*ESSENTIAL DUTIES* This position will be responsible for two significant aspects of the various evidence-based practices: ensuring fidelity to the multiple models and overseeing outcome data.
This would include but not be limited to the following responsibilities: 1.
Assesses patients, measure vital signs, and obtains pertinent information as required for each event.
2.
Records accurate information promptly in the electronic health record.
3.
Prepares patient for examination, treatment, and procedures.
4.
Explains procedures to patients, answers questions as needed, and calms their anxiety by providing them with additional time and information to make informed decisions.
5.
Determine and assess patients’ understanding of the information provided to them.
6.
Reviews and obtains informed consent from patients.
7.
Check for accuracy of consent/forms before filing into the patient’s electronic health record.
8.
Reviews patient’s electronic medical record for completion and accuracy.
9.
Assists physicians in the examination and treatment of patients.
10.
Anticipates the patient, guardian, and provider’s needs through active listening.
11.
Reinforces instructions given to patients by the physician.
12.
Provides patients with written or verbal education materials regarding office policies, medication, management of disease, home treatments, and special diets.
13.
Administers medication and immunizations.
Accurately documents completed information regarding medication/immunization in the patient’s electronic health record and another database registry as needed.
14.
Observe the patient’s reaction to drugs and treatments/procedures and report any unusual condition or observation to the physician.
15.
Ensure that all orders and office services are completed and submitted for billing purposes.
16.
Assists in the follow-up of failed appointments.
Notifies patient by mail or phone and documents follow-up in patient’s electronic health record.
17.
Collect specimens for testing, label them accurately, and ensure appropriate transport of samples with the right and completed requisition.
18.
Maintains and stocks vans with patient care supplies, sterilizes equipment, and keeps work area clean, orderly, and functional.
19.
Check, set up the event area, and assist in the opening and closing of the event.
20.
Ensures safety of patients and visitors by adhering to all safety rules and regulations.
21.
Assists in checking and maintaining emergency supplies in the van by ensuring that all items are replenished once expired and are maintained at appropriate temperatures.
22.
Supports the medical providers.
23.
Performs other medical assistant functions in the office as needed.
24.
Assist in discharging patients from care, placing orders, referrals, scheduling appointments, answering phones, maintaining front desk procedures and back-office supplies, etc.
25.
Assist in training and orienting new staff members.
26.
Accurately maintain equipment and medication logs daily.
Responsible for reporting equipment malfunction/repairs needed.
27.
Possess the ability to be flexible to function in all positions of the organization.

Recording of patient’s progress, procedures, and other matters: 29.
Use, protect, and disclose Eisner Health’s patients’ protected health information (PHI) only according to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards.

Complete all documentation and coding to meet patient needs and requirements for UDS data collection purposes.

Participates in Eisner’s “Peer Review” program and provides objective peer assessments.
37.
Timely completion of continuing education as required by state licensing regulations.

High school graduate or equivalency.

Must possess a current CPR Certification.
3.
Certification as a medical assistant in the State of California.
4.
Certification through the California Family Health Council (CFHC) Basic Health Worker course, recommended.
5.
Bilingual in English and Spanish.
6.
At least two years’ experience as a medical assistant in an outpatient clinic for adult and adolescent patients.
7.
Must be flexible with her/his hours.
8.
Computer skills a must.
9.
Ability to type 35+ wpm.
10.
Electronic health records experienced preferred 11.
Ability to read and write consistent with job requirements; cognitive skills as related to the position.
