Position in this function is responsible for providing leadership and support to other Billers and assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Business Office.
Primary Responsibilities: Consistently exhibits behavior and communication skills that demonstrate Optum’s commitment to superior customer service, including quality, care and concern with each and every internal and external customer Maintains current working knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 codes, required modifiers and encounter data Generates claims from CDO system for data entry Reviews paper encounter forms to accuracy Performs data entry of encounter forms and copayments Assists with patient registration and insurance verification Maintains summary encounter data tracker report Reviews encounter forms for accuracy and completeness.
Makes necessary corrections Prepares payments for data entry according to Payment Calculation policies and procedures Assists with patient billing inquiries Acts as liaison between Site Operations and Revenue Operations Applies knowledge of Medicare and Medi-Cal guidelines in reviewing claims to ensure appropriate use of modifiers and CPT/ICD-9 codes Corrects claims appearing on Edit Reports Serves as a resource to Optum staff on coding and general billing guidelines Uses, protects, and discloses Optum patients’ protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards You’ll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.
Years of post-high school education can be substituted/is equivalent to years of experience Required Qualifications: 1+ years of experience in medical billing Professional working knowledge of CPT & Diagnosis Coding, Medical Terminology, and basic Anatomy Proven ability to demonstrate solid proficiency using MS Suite and other systems Hybrid role (ability to come into our El Segundo, CA office 1-2x per month) Preferred Qualifications: CPC certificate 3+ years of medical billing and/or related job experience IDX experience HMO/managed care experience Proven bilingual California Residents Only: The hourly range for California residents is $16.
00 to $31.
44 per hour.
Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc.
