Job Purpose:
This group includes all Veritiv non-exempt drivers included but not limited to Class A/B, Local, Tractor Trailer, and Long Distance.
Job Responsibilities: Transport goods and supplies onsite and offsite working within established procedures to ensure on-time delivery.
Visually inspect loaded trucks to ensure the orders are pulled, packaged, converted, shipped and loaded properly to avoid damages during transportation.
Report all defects or equipment problems to supervisor.
Work according to an assigned schedule.
Provide professional and courteous interactions with customers to provide a positive experience File and retrieve the proper documents and delivery records from the company filing systems while monitoring the inventory quality and quantity availability.
Follow a range of mandatory work instructions to safeguard the environment and the wellbeing of oneself and others.
Report any problems or issues with facilities and customers.
Operate various equipment and machines, adjusting one or more variables to achieve efficiency.
The driver position may also help with various warehouse duties including order filling, loading/unloading of trucks, wrapping and other duties as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities & Qualifications: The driver is responsible for delivery of stock, as routed, to the customer and assigned pickups in a timely, safe manner.
Job Responsibilities: Must follow all Department of Transportation regulations as described in Federal Motor Carrier’s Safety Regulations Pocketbook.
Enters daily manifest of deliveries into the computer Visually inspects loaded truck to insure proper packaging and secures all merchandise, so as not to incur damage during transportation, closes and locks the door.
Performs appropriate pre-trip inspection checks and proper log book recordkeeping.
Reports all defects or equipment problems with supervisor.
Delivers stock to customers by a predetermined route to insure customer received their order in a timely manner.
The driver maintains safe driving habits and observes all traffic laws at all times.
Completes any of the assigned pickups in a timely and safe manner.
Responds to customers’ needs in a polite and understanding manner and reports any problems or inconsistencies related to delivery to the supervisor in a timely manner.
Must report all accidents, tickets or other mishaps to warehouse manager or supervisor promptly.
Must insure all proper paperwork and records are tuned in to supervisor, correct and on time.
Returns signed delivery receipts to warehouse manager and gives non-delivered paperwork to supervisor.
Responsible for proper placarding of a vehicle (when HazMat materials being transported).
Promotes and maintains a safe work environment.
This includes immediately reporting all incidents or near misses to the supervisor.
Responsible for housekeeping inside truck to keep it free from debris and items that could be a safety hazard when suddenly stopping.
Promotes and maintains a positive teamwork environment.
When not making deliveries, this position also helps in the warehouse with various duties including order filling, loading/unloading of trucks, wrapping and other duties as assigned.
Must be trained and certified on each piece of equipment operated.
Equipment Used in this position: Tractor/Trailer, Straight, or Tandem Truck, Hand-truck, Forklift, Pallet-jack and Walker.
Qualifications / Knowledge & Experience: High school diploma or GED required.
2+ years of Driving experience.
2+ years working in a warehouse environment.
Distribution warehouse experience preferred.
Must have a valid Class A CDL.
Must observe all Department of Transportation and driving regulations.
Must have a safe driving record and a clean Motor Vehicle Record.
Ability to operate a variety of material handling equipment required.
Excellent organizational, time management and customer relations skills are required.
Strong problem solving abilities and attention to detail required.
Familiarity with a computerized warehouse system preferred.
Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment.
Require Hazmat Endorsement (Downey Facility Only).
Working Conditions/Physical Requirement: (Describe any unusual working conditions, such as extreme temperatures, heights, hazardous materials, etc.
State percentage of time spent traveling each month, if any.
) Heavy work: requires ability to lift, twist and carry up to 65 pounds, manipulate (pushing, pulling) up to 160 pounds of product, and skids weighing up to 2,000 pounds utilizing pallet jack.
Physical activities required of this job include, but are not limited to: bending, carrying, climbing, crouching, feeling, finger movement, grasping, hearing, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, rapid work speed, speaking, reaching, repetitive motions, seeing, sitting, standing, stooping, talking, twisting, walking, and walking on irregular surfaces.
Work Experience: Verifiable Class A license and 12+ months driving experience compliant with all regulatory requirements.

Stooping - performed when filling orders or putting away products assigned to floor level locations.
May bend at the waist.
Kneeling - may kneel when filling orders or putting away products assigned to floor level locations.
