Staff Environmental Scientist

POSITION: Staff Environmental Scientist / Technician – Site Mitigation LOCATION: El Segundo, CA POSITION SUMMARY The Field Technician is an entry to junior-level team member who will gain a broad working knowledge and experience in performing environmental site assessments, analyzing and evaluating environmental data, assisting in writing technical reports, and contributing to the Site Mitigation team’s growth.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES · Coordinates and performs field activities associated with project tasks as directed.
Field tasks including environmental sampling and data collection of all media (i.
e.
soil, soil gas, groundwater, air, etc.
), measurements, inspections, and data recording along with construction activities and related tasks · Conduct routine operations, monitoring, and maintenance on remediation systems · Oversight of subcontractors · Maintains or exceeds applicable utilization goals · Obtains and adheres to the Company required Health and Safety Training Program and Practices QUALIFICATIONS Approximately 0 to 5 years of previous experience performing environmental investigations, completing site characterizations, and remedial investigations Knowledge of remediation systems (i.
e.
vapor extraction, etc.
) a plus Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong business acumen Flexibility to work in a team environment and as an individual contributor Willingness and ability to perform a wide range of project tasks, including field investigations, report writing, data tabulation, etc.
as necessary A self-starter, resourceful, with an attention to detail and the ability to work productively and independently on multiple projects under strict deadlines Ability and willingness to perform field work approximately 75% to 80% of the time, a mechanical background a plus EDUCATION Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or equivalent combination of a high school diploma and relevant experience LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS Current OSHA 40-hour "HAZWOPER" training certification preferred (but not required) Additional Health and Safety training a plus PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS · Ability to travel in the Southern California region daily, and/or overnight if needed/requested/available throughout California.
· The work environment is both indoors and outdoors.
Indoor work takes place in a typical office setting.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Outdoor work requires the ability to effectively perform work in all types of weather conditions.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, type, handle office and/or field equipment, speak and hear.
The employee may occasionally be required to stand, walk, balance, kneel or crouch.
The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 50+ pounds .
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to focus.
EMPLOYEE COMPENSATION, BENEFITS & PERKS The compensation range for this position is $65-75K annually, and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
