*Position Summary:* Oversees set ups and operating of metal band sawing machines to cut metal stock to dimensions by performing the following duties.
*Primary Duties & Responsibilities: * · Responsible for personnel on specified shift to complete the following operations: · Reads job traveler for specifications such as material, type, and size of stock, and dimensions to be cut.
· Relays information related to job tasks to others.
· Obtains and transfers stock to machine by forklift or overhead crane.
· Installs saw blade and sets blade tension and cutting speed for specified operation.
· Sets saw blade angle to obtain desired angle cuts.
· Sets stops and guides to control dimension of cut.
· Positions and secures stock against stops or in feeding device using straps or chains.
· Turns valve to start flow of coolant against cutting area.
· Starts machine and observes operation.
· Measures work for conformance to specifications.
· Marks identifying data on workpiece.
· Replaces finished work on pallets or barrels.
· Replaces defective cutting blade or wheel.
· Prepares data sheets of cut material and remnants.
· Steel Stamping letter and numbers on work piece by hammer blow.
· Coordinates with department supervisor and other shift lead persons to determine work assignments.
Trains and oversees all · operators on shift.
*Required Skills:* · Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
· Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
· Ability to speak effectively before groups or employees of Company.
· Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
· Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
· Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
· Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
*Experience & Education* · One-year certificate from college or technical school; or five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
