Job Summary:
Works under seasoned chaplain in offering spiritual support to patients, families and hospital staff.
Respects the dignity and faith traditions of each individual.
Guides and directs the institution's spiritual climate.
Bases pastoral care ministry on an inclusive basis, open to persons of all religious and non-religious traditions.
Facilitates communication between patients and faith communities.
Actively enrolled in AH-approved Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program.

Job Requirements:
Education and Work Experience:
Bachelor's degree in theology, spirituality, pastoral ministry or equivalent: Required
Completed or enrolled in a Clinical Pastoral Education program recognized by ACPE or CPSP: Required
Ministry related experience: Preferred
Active engagement toward obtaining Commissioned Minister License or Credential with accredited Seventh-day Adventist Church: Required
Board certified through APC, ACI or CPSP within five years of hire: Required
Essential Functions:
Provides pastoral care services to patients in various situations, like those undergoing surgical procedures, facing end of life issues or involved in traumatic accidents.
Provides comfort and support to patient families and friends.
Provides calming support to angry or distraught family members and friends.
Responds to urgent situations, including medical emergencies (Code Blue) and deaths, at the request of administrative coordinators, nurses and family.
Maintains medical and personal patient information confidential.
Works with individuals from diverse economic, cultural, racial and religious backgrounds.
Works with hospital staff to enhance sensitivity about spiritual concerns for patients and families experiencing terminal illness and loss.
Conducts religious services in the hospital chapel.
Accountable to the hospital mission and core values as well as Adventist Health mission, vision and core values.
Works with a CPE supervisor who will recommend their next level of training.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
