WHCC is deemed by the Bureau of Primary Health Care of the U.
S.
Department of Health and Human Services to be a federal employee for purposes of medical malpractice claims and, as such, qualified for protection under the Federal Tort Claims Act.
*SUMMARY:* The Outreach Worker II is primarily responsible for servicing participants on the WIC program, with the main focus on providing community outreach and public relation activities for the program.
Requires knowledge and familiarity with the WIC Program.
Must be able to communicate with people effectively, work independently and exercise sound judgment.
This position is 75% direct client services and 25% administration.
*RESPONSIBILITIES:* * Identify and conduct outreach activities to increase awareness, knowledge, understanding and participation in programs.
* Outreach in traditional and non-traditional settings where WIC target populations are most likely to be reached.
* Develop and conduct customer satisfaction surveys.
* Promote information and materials to community residents, agencies, and local healthcare providers community partners concerning the Watts Healthcare Corporation WIC program.
* Provide presentations to community groups, schools, churches, vendors, social and health agencies to increase community awareness of upcoming changes and promote program messages.
* Conduct screening of participants in order to make appropriate referrals.
* Provide feedback on potential areas for participant and staff training.
* Provide customers with information about agency services in a clear, simple manner so they can make informed decisions.
* Assist in developing activities and materials to educate the public.
* Develop strong working relationships with community partners.
* Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills.
* Be innovative and creative in finding new resources for our program.
* Ability to work as a team member.
* Represent the agency at various professional organizations.
*EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:* * High school diploma and some college courses in basic nutrition food, dietetic and/or health.
* One (1) year as a NA I or equivalent health related field.
* One (1) year individual or group education experience.
* Basic knowledge of nutrition and breastfeeding.
* Fully fluent in English and Spanish; required.
* Must have at least 1 year of community outreach experience.

All staff members must be fully vaccinated.
