Compensation: $100,000 to $110,000/ annually

Job Overview The Senior News Lead reports to the Senior Director, Production and has a dotted line to the Chief Content Officer.
This position works with production leadership to align news objectives with the organization’s goals and values through the creation of southern California focused digital news pieces.
This position will oversee a team and regularly uses independence and discretion in the execution of duties with limited supervision.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities Work with the CCO and Senior Director, Production to establish the editorial tone, news priorities, and guide the overall content strategy Serve as lead overseeing editorial partners in creating digital news pieces focused on key Southern California topics, including but not limited to: elections, climate, arts and culture and education Develop and pilot efforts for in house news studio-based programs including but not limited to building out format, identifying on air talent, potential guests, tone and feel of program Provide consultation around studio-based needs for news programs Oversee production of digital news stories working with reporters and journalism partners Liaise with marketing team around platform specific news content creation efforts Develop a network of consultants, advisors and appropriate organizations to help with story development and to review work in progress as appropriate Develop news coverage strategy for the station and its digital platforms Determine programming and evaluation of equipment needs to produce quality programming Attend all required production and content development meetings Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree; journalism, film, television, media or related field (preferred) 8+ years of production experience in producing related roles (a combination of education and experience will be considered) Previous senior level experience with news reporting, editorial standards, and journalism required Advanced knowledge of studio and field production processes Capable of lighting, running audio, and filming for documentary style productions Show Rundowns and proficient in rundown software such as AVID iNews Expert knowledge of digital film/video post-production processes Proficient in editing in at least one NLE software application: either Adobe Premiere or AVID Experience working in Log workflows for filming/editing/color correcting Experience in using digital cinema cameras (e.
g.
Arri Amira and Alexa Mini, RED cameras, Canon C300, and Sony FS7) Experience in sourcing and securing licensing rights for music, acquired footage, archival photos and videos Excellent research, writing and editing skills Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task with accuracy and to meet deadlines Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Ability to perform under stress, flexibility, as well as an awareness of the importance of maintaining relationships with key external and internal producers/companies Must be extremely goal-oriented with the ability to prioritize Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, it is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
The employee is also required to stand and walk.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment The working conditions are primarily a general office setting.
However, the position will require off-site travel to other locations as necessary.
Depending on the position, job duties, and subject to the discretion of the company, the position may be telecommuting eligible in whole or part.
