Job Description:
This position works closely with the Chief Financial Officer on all accounting and finance matters.
Supervises and directs all phases of accounting and control, including general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, asset accounting and reporting, taxes, and treasury.
Maintains adequate internal controls in areas of responsibility to safeguard ERN's assets.
Supervises and coordinates accounting activities involving payroll entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash collection and posting of other receivables, general ledger, and fixed assets.
Prepares Internal Financial Statements (GAAP) and investor’s reports.
Responsible for preparation and submission of statutory reporting (DMHC, CMS).
Responsible for supervision of all financial audits.
Ensures accuracy of and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, statutory accounting principles and with ERN's policies and procedures.
*Job Responsibilities* * Oversee all financial matters, which includes capitation accounting, Medicare reconciliations, risk adjustment accruals, IBNR, stop loss (reinsurance) and other healthcare industry concepts.
* Responsible for monthly and year-end accounting close, ensuring timely close that includes the necessary balance sheet and cash flow reconciliations and analysis.
* Facilitation of highest appropriate degree of automation for accounting and finance function to achieve efficient and timely close.
* Lead the compilation of GAAP financial statements, consolidating corporate and subsidiary accounting to ensure timely reporting to management.
* Build and maintain strong internal controls over financial reporting (e.
g.
, account reconciliations, comprehensive support behind all journal entries and accounting decisions, documented conclusions around any significant estimates), expense management, and adherence to operating plan.
* Manage & coordinate with external tax professionals to ensure timely tax filings for all legal entities, i.
e.
, Form 1120, 1099, 1096, W2, W3, 3921 and state and local tax filings.
* Manage Company’s treasury processes to ensure the adequacy of safeguarding of cash assets.
Coordinate bank relationships including setup banking payment options and collection activities related to member premium billings, etc.
Oversee investment activity and related reporting.
* Collaborate with external auditors providing all necessary information for periodic and annual financial statement audits and reviews.
* Oversees the operations of the Finance Department, which include general accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, fixed assets and payroll.
* On-going assessment of accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementation of new processes.
* Oversees departmental training programs and identifies training needs.
* Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
* Oversees the production of financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
* Recommends benchmarks that will be used to measure the Company’s performance.
* Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
* Oversees facility management activities including periodic review of maintenance program alongside with the design/modification of business continuity plan to ensure the continuation of business operations.
* Other duties as assigned.
*Qualifications* *Education and Experience* * Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business, or related field, an additional 5 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.
* Five (5) or more years of comprehensive finance management, accounting and reporting experience required.
* Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred.
* Experience evaluating new or emerging trends and transferring knowledge to key stakeholders.
