Job Summary:

This role will be the point person for clip licensing, development closeouts, and photography agreements, and will work closely with our attorneys and other business stakeholders on marketing agreements, rights research and summaries, and other projects.
We are looking for a smart, motivated, self-starter who is passionate about the entertainment business, particularly the television development, production and distribution process.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Review contracts, conduct legal research, and prepare summary analyses and reports
Negotiate and prepare clip licenses and photography agreements for ABC prime-time and late-night content, including American Idol, Shark Tank, and Jimmy Kimmel Live, as well as legacy ABC content (e.
g.
, Schoolhouse Rock)
Research and prepare development close-out and turnaround agreements with third party studios for both scripted and unscripted programming
Prepare location agreements, artist certificates, and other short-form legal agreements
Draft a variety of marketing agreements, including services agreements, promotional agreements, and non-disclosure agreements
Create, maintain and update charts and databases for the department
Proofread and edit documents (including redlining)
Prepare letters and other correspondence
Work closely with various business, legal, finance, and creative teams
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor’s Degree and/or qualifications to be a paralegal by certification or education and work experience set forth by the American Bar Association and any applicable state Codes
A minimum of 1 year paralegal experience or equivalent experience (in-office strongly preferred) in the entertainment industry or at a reputable law firm
A deep interest in entertainment, media or advertising industries, and willingness to learn about new areas
Strong understanding of contracts with the ability to issue-spot and seek guidance from attorneys as needed
Detail-oriented, professional, self-motivated, with a proactive and conscientious mindset
Excellent oral and written communication, drafting and proofreading skills
Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize workload efficiently and effectively (i.
e.
, ability to meet firm deadlines, work independently and proactively follow up)
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and DocuSign
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Paralegal certificate
Previous experience working in television or marketing/advertising
NetDocs or other contract management system experience
Prior exposure to intellectual property law, including content licenses, chain of title, or legal rights analysis, etc.
The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $70,000.
00 to $93,800.
00 per year based on a ____ hour work week.
The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs.
The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
