Los Angeles Dependency Lawyers, Inc.
(LADL) seeks law school graduates who are committed to the fight for social justice and are excited to dive deeper into the defense of the constitutionally protected relationship between parents and their children.
Be sufficiently resilient to engage in the daily battle against the generational effects of poverty, racism, addiction, domestic violence, and mental health conditions.
Post Bar Scholars assist attorneys with day-to-day case preparation and litigation.
If certified by the State Bar of California, Post Bar Scholars will make daily court appearances under the direct supervision of a licensed attorney.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience: · Graduation from an accredited law school with pending membership in the California State Bar.
· Candidates must have taken the 2024 Summer California State Bar Exam.
· The Post-Bar Scholar program lasts from August 12, 2024 until November 8, 2024.
A Post Bar Scholar’s duties include but are not limited to: · Knowledge of and ability to use word processing software such as MS Word; must have sufficient typing ability to produce memos, orders, etc.
· Ability to reason logically and analytically.
· Ability to grasp, comprehend, and analyze complex legal issues and complicated factual details.
Ability to communicate ideas and concepts effectively and succinctly, both orally and in writing.
Ability to work effectively with others and/or to work independently.
· Ability to interview clients and witness.
· Will be responsible for conducting research and providing written summaries of findings for use in dependency case proceedings.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure and accomplish several long-term deadlines with minimum supervision.
· Excellent organizational and writing skills a must · Completion of court mandated forms such as restraining orders, 388’s etc.
, with little to no supervision · Assist the attorney in arranging appearances of witnesses at trial and hearings.
Preparing presentation of evidence · Ability to interact with all levels of staff and management Salary: $75,000.
