Sitting too much for your own good? We are refining a seated exercise device for use during otherwise sedentary periods of the day.
We’re working under a small business grant from the National Institutes of Health and wish to find people meeting the criteria below to evaluate the device over a 24-hour period in their own home.
You will be asked to use it in whatever manner you choose while sensors track details of usage.
Evaluations will start about mid-January.
Minimum Requirements:
Identify as Hispanic or Latino
65 years of age or older
MUST SPEAK ENGLISH FLUENTLY (Sorry, using an interpreter won't qualify.
)
Live in the Glendale area
No regular exercise program
Tend to be sedentary
Capable of performing mild, seated exercise
There will be a phone interview to determine if you qualify.
If selected, you will then have an in-home interview.
The chair will be provided for your use during a 24-hour window.
Afterwards, there will be a follow up in-home interview asking your opinions about the comfort, ease of use, etc.
In earlier evaluations, most people used this pedal device while watching TV, using a computer, talking on the phone, or reading.
This data will be used solely to further refine the product and its features toward bringing it to market.
