SUMMARY The Head of Fitness Operations oversees all aspects of group fitness classes, general fitness and sports performance training programs, neurological re-engineering services and physical therapy.
This position is responsible for staying abreast of the latest trends in fitness and wellness and integrating innovative fitness classes and effective training programs into the facility's offerings.
The Head of Fitness Operations must also manage the recruitment and supervision of staff, including group fitness instructors, personal trainers, neurological re-engineering trainers, and physical therapists, ensuring that they are well-equipped to provide exceptional service to clients.
Additionally, a critical aspect of this role is to work efficiently with the sales team, marketing department and front desk staff in order to develop and implement strategies for membership sales and retention, marketing and promotions, and community outreach.
The Head of Fitness Operations ensures that the exercise and fitness department runs smoothly and efficiently, while also maintaining the highest standards of customer service and safety.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Fitness Programming Operations and Organization
Defines, implements and revises operational policies and guidelines for all fitness services and ensures Team Members are informed and compliant.
Sets up checks and balances to review all outcomes of programs after each quarter.
Customer Satisfaction
Improves policies and procedures as necessary if the improvements will make day-to-day fitness operations more customer friendly and supportive of an efficiently run department.
Growth Initiatives
Participates in marketing activities to develop community relationships with various referral sources and support market development managers in their role to drive new business sales.
Financials
Directs the development and implementation of short-term and long-range plans for growth and budgets based upon organization goals and objectives each quarter.
Budgeting and Forecasting – responsible for managing the revenues and expenses to meet or exceed forecasts.
Works with the finance team to develop accurate forecasts based on current business parameters and revenue generating initiatives.
Directly responsible for the accuracy and optimization of the Fitness P&L.
Team Leadership
Interviews, hires and trains the group fitness manager and instructors, trainers and therapists and ensures Team Members receive training and support to help company achieve goals and objectives.
Communicates and explains new directives, policies, or procedures to group fitness instructors, personal training directors, and physical therapists.

Detail Oriented with strong organizational and management skills and can shift between driving strategy and managing a large volume of operational details in the fitness department.

CREDENTIALS AND REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, leadership, communications, or a related field recommended
Previous experience in a customer service role
At least 5 years of experience in the Fitness or Rehabilitation Industry
Previous management experience in the fitness, gym or wellness industry
