Position Purpose:
The Transportation Driver driver is located at Women and Children’s Program in South Los Angeles.
The driver is responsible to transport mothers and children safely to appointments and other transports.
The Transportation Driver will also uphold the JWCH mission to improve the health status and wellbeing of under-served segments of the population of Los Angeles County through the direct provision or coordination of health care, health education, services, and research.
Principal Responsibilities:
Transports women and children residing at a residential treatment program in South Los Angeles to after hour and weekend appointments in a safe and professional manner.
Transports residents to 12 Step Meetings, spiritual & religious services, and therapeutic outings
Capable of making independent decisions for transport
Able to use navigation system, and make independent decision about transportation directions
Creates a create weekly and daily transportation schedule with Program Administrator that is understandable to staff and clients
Communicates daily with staff about status of transportation schedule
Upholds client rules while being transported (i.
e.
no food in car, do not deviate)
Participate in weekly case conference with the Treatment Team, as needed
Keeps the vehicle clean, regular maintenance, and gas tank filled
Follow all COVID 19 and other health and safety protocols
Keeps a Transportation Log Book that tracks trips destination, departure and return
Assists clients with establishing bus routes via Google Maps
Coordinate Uber Health transports
Pick up program items from Corporate Office or other location as indicated
Distribute program marketing cards in the community during drop offs
Assist with program needs at the facility when not transporting
Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED
Valid California Class B Driver’s license
Minimum 2 years professional driving experience.
5 years DMV printout of no driving violations.
Must pass mandatory and random drug and alcohol screenings.
Culturally competent and able to work with a diverse population.
Knowledgeable of bookkeeping for token distribution, mileage log and gas receipts.
Knowledge of vehicle safety and maintenance.
Knowledge of transportation equipment for physically disabled.
Physical Demands:
Position requires prolonged sitting at a computer, some bending, lifting, stooping and stretching.
Good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard, photocopy machine, telephone, and other office equipment is also required.
Employees hired for this position must be able to perform the essential functions of this job without imposing significant risk of substantial harm to the health or safety of themselves or others.
