We are a busy family of 4 living in the Mar Vista neighborhood of West LA.
We have two children in elementary school and we've outgrown having a nanny since our kids are in school all day.
They are aged 5 and 7.
We are looking for a 20-hour per week / part-time House Manager who can help us manage our daily life.
You'll be responsible for a variety of tasks and get to have ownership over your daily activities.
Your core responsibilities include creating and maintaining an organized and efficient household and mostly supporting the mom of the house with daily tasks, running errands, and shuttling kids to activities after school.
The perfect candidate is looking for a flexible, part-time job that utilizes their love of organizing, systems and tidiness.
You like kids, take pleasure in a clean and organized environment, and are happy to chip in with household activities.
Core Weekly Tasks include:
Food:
- Assist with meal prep for kids lunches 5 days/week
- Meal prep for family dinners 3 days/week (chopping veggies, preparing recipes, organizing fridge and freezer to use up food that needs to get eaten)
- Manage weekly grocery shopping list and grocery shop or order groceries as needed
- Manage and organize pantry and backstock
Home:
- Wash, dry and fold all kids laundry weekly
- Assist with mom and dad's laundry if needed (we also have a housekeeper that does this)
- Light cleaning of kitchen during/after meal prep, and before the kids get home from school
- Water plants weekly
- Tidy up living room daily (put toys away, put clothes in closets, etc.
)
- Restock refrigerators with drinks as needed
- Make beds daily (3 beds) (sheets are changed by housekeeper)
Kids:
- Tidy, organize and create systems for kids play area.
Dispose of broken toys, organize new toys, donate toys the kids have outgrown, circulate toys so they have new activities to play with after school
- Drive kids to/from some after-school activities (3 days/week, usually between 2:30 and 5 PM).
Mileage will be reimbursed.
- Keep kids snacks and drinks stocked and replenish/organize as needed
- Organize kids clothes and pull out items they've outgrown or are damaged, make recommendations for new clothing purchases (and potentially also shop for those items)
Life Admin:
- Buy gifts for kids' birthday parties, etc.
- Pick up dry cleaning/shopping orders
- Take cars to get washed (as needed) and fill them with gas (a credit card will be provided for all purchases)
- Manage mail and handle online shopping returns
- Communicate with our office assistant on scheduling, travel needs
Qualifications:
- Experience working with or being around children.
Good demeanor with dealing with children and clean driving record.
Two referrals required from past employers.
- Comfortable using a computer in order to perform basic tasks (emailing, online shopping returns, etc.
)
- Experience with administrative tasks and reporting to another team member
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Basic cooking skills and knowledge of meal preparation
- Attention to detail and high standards for cleanliness and organization
This position pays $25/hour.
20 hours/ week.
Preferred hours are 2 PM - 6 PM, Monday-Friday, with some flexibility.
