** The Senior Data Analyst reports to the Director of Data Analytics, Systems & Reporting (DASR).
They share responsibility with their DASR colleagues for the technical support, management and enhancement of University Advancement's alumni and donor database (presently Ellucian Advance Web, migrating to a Salesforce system in the near future) as well as a wide range of reporting and analytics products.
The incumbent works closely with ITS' Strategy, Architecture, & Analytics and Experience & Engagement Products teams, as well as the database vendor on patches and troubleshooting, and assists as needed with existing and future apps such as GiveGab, Cvent, and RNL Engage.
The position is also heavily involved in system upgrades and conversions.
DASR collectively analyzes, designs and develops custom web forms, sophisticated fundraising projections, trend and performance reports, and creates targeted solicitation segments.
Using predictive modeling, and working with Prospect Management and Research colleagues, they assist with data mining to identify the most capable and likely prospects to maintain fully populated relationship management rosters.
They are also dedicated to maintaining the integrity of data within the alumni and donor database and identifying errors in real time.
Position Specific Responsibilities Analyze, design and develop custom web forms and dashboards within the alumni and donor database in support of University Advancement's strategic goals, enabling staff to directly access and more easily interpret select data.
Use a variety of reporting tools and methodologies such SQL, Crystal Reports, and Tableau to synthesize data from multiple sources to create dynamic reports and sophisticated, complex queries.
Measure individual and fundraising team performance metrics, progress toward goal, and inform UA Senior Staff, the President and front-line fundraisers in real-time of fundraising trends and forecasts to assist in campaign decision making.
(30%) Adhere to master calendar to load critically important degree, senior, parent and credential information provided from the Registrar and Enrollment Management offices into corresponding alumni and donor database tables and data fields, along with other relational data such as scholarship recipients and student activities on an ad hoc basis.
Review the provided data for load/formatting errors, utilize data loader, and collaborate with the Gifts and Records team to verify and test for data issues or discrepancies.
Assist with the loading and documentation of gift transactions for priority projects, including Day of Giving and crowdfunding.
(25%) Use PL/SQL queries and other reporting tools to craft strategic solicitation segments in support of Annual and Leadership Giving outreach efforts including direct mails, student calling, emails and other emerging platforms.
Test the results for accuracy and completeness and load the appeals back into the alumni and donor database before deploying.
Following each outreach effort, provide analysis on constituency performance.
DASR will collaborate with the Prospect Management and Research team to utilize predictive data indicators to target alumni, parents, and friends with the highest potential and likelihood to give.
(20%) The DASR team serves as technical liaisons on all alumni and donor database back-end projects.
Work closely with the ITS Experience & Engagement Products, and Strategy, Architecture & Analytics teams as new software and systems are implemented that interface with the database, including data warehousing.
Engage with ITS and vendor on database upgrades, patches and security fixes.
Participate in the analysis, design, and development of new data processes, Help define specs and workflow, identify system deficiencies, and suggest corrections.
Assist with roll-out, documentation and troubleshooting following launch of all new systems until all issues are resolved.
(15%) Establish and maintain a rigorous quality control protocol for all data housed in the alumni and donor database to both improve data integrity and protect University Advancement information.
This will include setting up technical and procedural processes and business standards for the back-end as well as the front-end to verify the data is entered according to approved business and best practices.
Utilize system validation options to prevent data from being entered in an incorrect field or format, and where that is not available, create discrepancy audits to identify inaccurate data.
(10%) Perform other related duties as needed.

Experience/ Qualifications A Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Communication or technical school with appropriate technical knowledge or equivalent experience.
Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to keep abreast of benefit regulation/policy changes.
Understanding of basic fundraising concepts and familiarity with higher ed advancement strongly preferred.
Minimum 3 years of demonstrated experience with SQL, Oracle, Excel, , and BI tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Crystal Reports required.
Direct front-end and back-end knowledge and experience with relational databases highly preferred.
Knowledge and understanding of relational data (biographic, gift, committee, prospect, etc.
) required.
Exposure to Salesforce, including Advancement-specific products like Advancement RM by Affinaquest or ascend by UC Innovation preferred.
Considerable skill and judgment in the collection, evaluation, and interpretation of data to develop sound conclusions and make appropriate recommendations.
Demonstrated attention to detail through past experience.
Understanding of the principles and practices of systems development; interpersonal skills to interact closely with users in identifying and preparing for special projects and programs; ability to complete complex projects using independent judgment; ability to troubleshoot problems quickly and effectively; demonstrated skill in analyzing situations quickly and accurately, and in devising and executing an effective course of action.

Reasonable Expected Salary: $75,000 - $80,000/yer Salary offer commensurate with education and experience.
