The Work You Will Do The Payroll Business Data Analyst will analyze data to support business practices, develop reporting tools, ensure data accuracy, and lead strategic business decisions.
This role may lead staff or student workers as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The candidate for the position of Payroll Business Data Analyst must meet the following qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience/education as a substitute for minimum education.
Minimum one year in operating analysis and reporting.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS The ideal candidate for the position of Payroll Business Data Analyst has the following qualifications: Minimum three years in a university environment with knowledge of university systems and procedures preferred.
Three to five years in analysis and reporting.
Knowledge and experience with I-9 compliance, including auditing I-9 statuses, are highly desirable.
This includes effectively managing I-9 verification processes and ensuring adherence to relevant regulations and policies.
Knowledge and experience with Nonresident aliens including visas, taxation and reporting, NRA database management such as Glacier.
Demonstrated advanced proficiency in utilizing advanced Microsoft Excel features.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, crucial for working effectively with diverse teams and ensuring compliance with employment verification processes.
Extensive experience using a central ERP platform (e.
g.
, Workday, Oracle, SAP).
Demonstrated experience in performing regular and ad-hoc reporting.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate and analyze operating reports.
Experience developing conclusions and recommendations based on data analysis.
Solid background in performing analyses to assist in planning.
Experience in reviewing and enhancing reporting and data management systems.
Contribute to the development or modification of strategies to improve reporting capabilities.
Proven ability to identify and resolve business problems through research and data interpretation.
Strong skills in evaluating alternatives and determining appropriate methods of presentation.
Workday experience is a plus.
Job Accountabilities: Performs data analyses and assists in interpreting results using various techniques to support business practices.
Works with management to obtain and identify analytical requirements.
Researches best practices and develops benchmarks.
Produces data collection methods (e.
g.
, surveys, tests, etc.
) and develops tools and processes to support analyses.
Analyzes results, reviews data for anomalies, investigates to identify and determine cause, and corrects data inaccuracies and inconsistencies as necessary.
Provides recommendations and conclusions gained from analyzing data.
Oversees or performs maintenance and development of databases for collecting data and reporting purposes.
Designs data input or data collection screens, as needed.
Enters and/or validates data entry as required.
Ensures data errors are addressed.
Provides technical support and design enhancements.
Provides business data trend information to support recommendations for action.
Collaborates with management on best practices, appropriate statistical measures, and benchmarking.
Provides management with suggestions, as appropriate.
Review existing accounting, reporting, and data management systems and methods for adequacy.
Contributes to the development and/or modification of financial systems and applications to enhance reporting and information capabilities.
Assists in the identification and resolution of business problems.
Researches and interprets available data.
Evaluate alternatives and determine appropriate methods of presentation.
Maintains Glacier database, Audits Glacier and Workday for record accuracy, and creates reports based on audit results for record updates.
Handles Unemployment Claims through Equifax, tracks metrics for UI claims, Department communication for documentation.
Communicated with departments regarding I-9 compliance, Audited I-9 statuses, and created reports for leadership of Payroll Services.
Participates in projects or special studies of significant importance to the university.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
