The Department of Medicine is actively seeking a Programmer Analyst III to join our clinical research group.
Operating with autonomy under the guidance of the Core Director, your efforts will will support clinical research studies dedicated to diverse disorders, including mental health disorders, obesity, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), chronic pelvic pain, interstitial cystitis, vulvodynia, and cognitive decline, all explored through the lens of the gut-brain-microbiome axis.
As a cornerstone of our team, your primary focus will encompass programming and optimizing automated data quality control, preprocessing, computational, and analysis pipelines.
These pipelines will navigate the landscape of large-scale multimodal brain imaging and biological data, driving insights at the intersection of science and technology.
We seek candidates with a robust programming background spanning engineering, computer science, statistics, physics, and/or neuroscience, as your expertise will be pivotal in advancing our mission.

Target annual rate: $66,300-$131,100
Qualifications
Required: * Expertise in MATLAB is essential * Expertise with database design and querying (MySQL PHP, JavaScript/JQuery).
* Experience navigating a UNIX environment (BASH language) is necessary.
* Experience with data analyses programs (e.
g.
, R, QIIME).
* Function as part of a multi-disciplinary team, as well as work independently.
* Demonstrated ability to prioritize and organize duties and tasks with minimal supervision.
* Demonstrated ability to manage and work with complex datasets.
* Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
* Skill in writing concise, logical and correct correspondence.
* Ability to monitor progress of assigned MRI imaging studies, and communicate progress to primary investigators as needed.
* Demonstrated familiarity with computers and with programs such as Word, Excel, etc.
, as well as data entry and the internet.
Strongly Preferred: * Bachelor or Masters Degree in engineering, bioengineering, public health, biological sciences, computer sciences, neuroscience, statistics, or related field.
* Experience managing or maintaining a UNIX server with both a large amount of mounted storage and a large variety of software would be highly beneficial Preferred: * Demonstrated ability to recognize areas of improvement in existing procedures and vocalize them.
* Experience with data visualization (d3.
js or other) is a plus.
* Experience with Python is highly beneficial.
* Experience in neuroimaging (or image processing in general) not required but is a plus.
