As the Sustainability Specialist at LJC, you will take your background in sustainability, engineering, analytics and/or architecture and combine it with excellent task management, verbal and written communication skills to carry the sustainable certification efforts forward in the built environment.
Having the ability to multi-task, work in a fast-paced environment, with a high-degree of execution is critical.
The tasks will be diverse and rang across sustainable project types, internal sustainability initiatives, research, and training at any given time in an effort to best support the Clayco enterprise.
We are looking for someone who is interested in constant learning, collaboration, and a desire to improve the built environment in many facets, namely sustainability.
You will work with members of not only LJC, but other Clayco entities such as CRG, Concrete Strategies, and Ventana.
Responsibilities: • Compile project information and documentation for third party certification such as LEED, WELL, Fitwel, Living Building Challenge and PHIUS.
• Communicate sustainable requirements / goals to clients, design team, construction team and subcontractors.
• Develop sustainable-related tools to better communicate requirements with project team.
• Promote internal sustainability / corporate responsibility.
• Participate in industry events and create a presence for BatesForum / Clayco.
• Collect and analyze performance of previously completed sustainable buildings.
• Work with EC3 and other embodied carbon tools to support project teams in reducing total embodied carbon.
• Assist in creation of internal sustainability process standards.
• Contribute to internal training, learning, and research around sustainability, sustainable design and construction practices and operations.
Job Specifications: • 4-year degree with either B.
A.
or B.
S.
with a focus in Environmental Studies, Environmental Management, Sustainability, Environmental Engineering, or Architecture.
• 3+ years of experience needed.
• LEED Green Associate, LEED Accredited Professional (AP) or WELL Accredited Professional preferred.
• Must have strong task management and organizational skills.
• Must be self-motivated and have a sense of urgency.
• Must have strong communication skills.
• Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Bluebeam, ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager, LEEDOnline preferred.
• Understanding of life cycle cost analysis, daylight analysis, Revit plug-ins such as Green Building Studio, PlanIt Impact, Cove, and Fenestra Pro are helpful.
