From systems architecture development to system analysis and optimization, astrodynamics, orbital debris, navigation, failure analysis, mission assurance, cost and schedule assessment, and economic market analysis, SED exploits an incredibly broad array of engineering and business areas against a diverse and dynamic portfolio of programs and national challenges.
The Modeling and Simulation Computing Department (MSCD) consists of a team dedicated to ground-breaking software solutions and capabilities for government and commercial customer needs.
The software we develop enables detailed and complex modeling, analysis, optimization, and visualization of satellite orbits, system architectures, and engineering trade-spaces to provide customer decision support for the future of space.
What You'll Be Doing: Leverage specialized technical expertise to deliver software solutions that grow and sustain the sub-division’s modeling, simulation, and analysis capabilities in teams with multi-disciplinary technical leaders, analysis leaders, Aerospace Program Office personnel, and external customers to define and address customer needs Independently apply and advance modern software development techniques and best practices to perform modeling and simulation tool development in sub-division focus areas Serve as a key point of contact for technologies, techniques, programs and/or activities for major technical efforts within the department and subdivision.
Maintain continuous tasking and identify areas of improvement in department tools and capabilities Serve as a mentor and provide guidance on analysis tool development efforts to junior staff Partner with program office counterparts and analysis leaders to define and scope development solutions within an area of technical expertise Lead larger multi-disciplinary or cross-department teams of peers or more junior staff in conducting specialized development tasks as part of larger project efforts Proactively performs tasks and network across departments with autonomy Occasional travel to support customer efforts What You Need to be Successful Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related field from an accredited school 8 years relative experience Proven ability to self-manage multiple tasks independently and as part of a team Experience in technical writing and technical presentation Significant contribution to a substantial technical analytical or development project through its successful completion Proficiency in one of the following programming languages: Python, C/C++, Java, MATLAB, or other object-oriented language Experience in modern software development, integration, and testing practices Familiarity with development on Windows and Linux platforms The ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance.
