MISSION:The mission of the YMCA of the Foothills is to organize, develop, finance, and conduct programs for an association of persons of all ages that will, by putting Christian principles into practice, enrich the quality of their lives spiritually, mentally, physically and socially.
POSITION SUMMARY:The Lead Teacher is responsible for assisting the Leader, Childcare in all areas of the Preschool.
The Lead Teacher handles the daily operations of the Preschool including but not limited to maintaining student to teacher ratios, daily schedules, and cleaning.
The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that Preschool Teachers and Aides are following protocol at all times ensuring a safe environment for the students.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
·Under the direction of the Leader, Childcare, the Lead Teacher leads program staff and volunteers in the implementation and delivery of tactics and programs related to Youth Development.
·Work as a member of a team to design and implement age appropriate learning and enrichment activities.
·Communicates daily events, as well as any concerns or issues with parents.
Review outgoing communication with Leader, Childcare for accuracy and important announcements.
·Assists in planning and execution of Preschool Events
·Responsible for filing of Preschool Documents
·Assists in the collection of Preschool Payments
·Maintain, inventory and request supplies needed for the Preschool.
·Enforces and adheres to program standards regarding safety and risk management.
Responsible for the safety and well-being of each child.

Schedules and implements monthly fire drills

Ensures all children have up to date Earthquake kits
·Responsible for reporting any staff or child accident/incidents or suspected child abuse to the Leader, Childcare or Branch Director as soon as possible.
Completes appropriate reports, make necessary phone calls, and follow all emergency procedures.
·Participates in fundraising strategies and opportunities and provides support and leadership to the annual support campaign.
·Act as representative of the YMCA of the Foothills at all times.
·Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
·Minimum age: 21 years of age
·HS Diploma, GED or equivalent
·12 Early Childhood Education (ECE) units with 3 ECE units in administration.
·Minimum two (2) years previous experience in a preschool program or other recognized facility, one (1) year in a related supervisory or lead role preferred.
·Familiarity with state licensing requirements for both program and staff.
·Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
·Ability to lead peers as well as participants.
·Understanding of group management and child development
·Ability to accept supervision and guidance.
·CPR and First Aid certifications, maintain current 15-hour Child/Infant CPR and First Aid certifications.
·Must have doctor's clearance and current TB test.
