*Job Overview:*
Our organization is seeking a part-time STEM instructor for our after-school enrichment program.
The instructor will be responsible for guiding elementary (Grades 1-5) school-aged children in building various toys, including solar-powered cars, walking dinosaurs, glowing houses, and more.
The ideal candidate will be good at working with their hands or building things like Lego structures.
They should also have a basic understanding of engineering principles or be willing to learn, experience working with children, and strong communication skills.
The instructor will deliver a maximum of one class per day, with the possibility of working multiple days per week.
*Pay: *$40 to $75 per class.
The total time to administer each class is roughly 2 hours.
This includes 1 hour for the in-person class itself, plus 30 to 60 minutes of preparation before each class to get familiar with the toy of the day.
*Duties:*
* Introduce the toy of the day and provide a high-level overview of the engineering concepts involved.
* Guide children through the toy-building and decorating process using provided instructions.
* Assist children with steps they are unable to complete on their own.
* Communicate effectively with children, parents, and guardians, and remain patient with children who require additional support.
* Maintain a safe and organized work environment, ensuring that all materials and tools are properly stored and that children are following appropriate protocols.
* Complete training to familiarize yourself with each toy before class begins.
* Provide own transportation to the location.
*Ideal Skills/Qualifications:*
* Experience working with elementary school-aged children in a classroom or informal setting.
* Basic understanding of simple engineering principles or willingness to learn.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work independently and manage a group of children effectively.
* Availability to work one hour per day on a day of your choice, Monday through Friday, during after-school hours.
* Must be able to commit to conducting classes for at least 8 weeks once the school term begins.
* Must pass a background check.
