After School Assistant

Job Title: After-School Assistant Job Summary:As an After-School Assistant, you will be responsible for providing support and supervision to children in an after-school program.
You will assist with homework, organize activities, and ensure the safety and well-being of all participants.
This role requires patience, creativity, and a passion for working with children.
Responsibilities: 1.
Supervise children during after-school hours, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
2.
Assist students with homework assignments and provide academic support as needed.
3.
Plan and lead engaging activities, such as arts and crafts, games, and outdoor play, to promote social, emotional, and physical development.
4.
Maintain a clean and organized environment, including setting up and cleaning up activity areas.
5.
Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and other team members regarding student progress and behavior.
6.
Implement program policies and procedures to maintain a positive and structured environment.
7.
Address any behavioral issues promptly and appropriately, using positive reinforcement techniques when possible.
8.
Attend staff meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions as required.
9.
Ensure compliance with licensing regulations and safety standards.
10.
Perform other duties as assigned by the program coordinator or supervisor.
Qualifications: 1.
High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in education, child development, or a related field preferred.
2.
Previous experience working with children in a school, camp, or childcare setting preferred.
3.
Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, and coworkers.
4.
Patience, flexibility, and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
5.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
6.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
7.
Basic knowledge of child development and age-appropriate activities.
8.
CPR and First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain upon hiring).
9.
Pass background check and any other required screenings.
