The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
Role Summary The primary purpose of the Recreation Program Assistant is to assist the department in planning, implementing, and evaluating recreation, camping, and adapted physical activity programs for individuals who are blind and have low vision.
Additionally, the Program Assistant will provide administrative support for community-based programs.
Participates in the development and teaching of recreation, sports, and adapted physical activity programming within the Recreation Department including for Camp Bloomfield, the VISIONS: Adventures in Learning program, and other programs as needed.
Coordinates enrollment registrations and ensures the required documentation are completed and received, promptly according to policies, procedures, and regulations within the Recreation Department including for Camp Bloomfield, and VISIONS: Adventures in Learning programs.
Coordinates driving schedules for the Recreation Department, VISIONS programs, and Camp Bloomfield as needed.
Ensures that drivers are updated with any changing schedules.
Provides transportation for the Recreation Department and Camp Bloomfield by driving agency vehicles.
Acts as a liaison with families and schools to ensure timely pick-ups and drop-offs.
Updates driving schedules as needed.
Works with the Administrative Services Assistant to schedule van usage.
Serves as a point-of-contact by checking in and interacting with parents on arrival and departure days for Camp Bloomfield and VISIONS programs.
Develops and maintains ongoing communication with the recreation programs’ participants and families in a timely and professional manner.
Assists with accepting and screening incoming phone calls and emails and handles phone calls and emails promptly.
Prepares email marketing materials for program events as directed by the Recreation Programs Manager.
Participates in the development of Wayfinder special events.
Maintains office and storage area caring for equipment to ensure equipment is operating in a clean, safe, and organized manner.
Pursuing or has an associate degree or higher in Therapeutic Recreation, Physical Education, Special Education, or related field from an accredited college or university.
A minimum of one year of experience providing administrative and/or recreation program support to a department or manager.
Must possess a thorough knowledge of the English language including, grammar, spelling, and punctuation (bilingual in Spanish preferred).
Excellent verbal, written, and telephone communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel.
Must possess a thorough knowledge of office methods, procedures, and practices.
Must have a thorough knowledge of office machines and equipment.
