Mission: Vista Del Mar provides a trauma-responsive continuum of services to empower children, youth, and families in Southern California to lead fulfilling lives.
Role Overview: The primary responsibility of the 1:1 Childcare Aide–Non-Public School (NPS): Vista School is to provide academic and/or behavioral assistance to a student or several students during the school day.
Essential Job Duties: Provides 1-to-1/group behavioral-based instruction and/or intervention to assigned students; • Remains within physical proximity of students; • Supports the classroom team in the implementation of students' IEP goals and objectives, especially as they pertain to student behavior; • Provides intervention for students in crisis, utilizing Crisis Prevention and Intervention methods; • Performs data collection and record keeping pertaining to students' progress toward goals and objectives, as well as behavioral intervention; • May be required to provide daily transportation when needed; • Performs other reasonably related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications: Experience working with students under the following eligibilities: emotional disturbance, autism spectrum disorder, and/or other developmental disabilities is preferred; • Some classroom experience preferred; • Ability to hear and verbally communicate with others; • Ability to interrupt physical altercations among students; • Valid driver's license.
What You Bring to VDM: Education & Experience High school diploma and 2 years of college (48 units), or AA degree (or higher), or Pass the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST).
One year of training and experience in providing intervention and instruction in a one-to-one format to children with emotional disturbances, autism spectrum disorder and/or other developmental disabilities; or 12-15 units of undergraduate level coursework in Behavior Analysis, Special Education, Psychology, Child Development, Counseling, or other closely related field.
On the Job Training: Required to complete First Aid, CPR and CPI upon hiring, plus ongoing training as required.
