We find new ways Position Description ASP Mentors are responsible for leading students in fun, engaging, and developmentally-aligned after-school programming that provides daily academic, recreation, and enrichment activities for Transitional Kindergarten (TK) - 8th-grade students.
This is a school-site based position with daily afternoon hours at approximately 22 hours per week (MON/TUES/THURS/FRI: 1:45-6pm, WEDS: 12:45-6pm).
Responsibilities * Provide academic assistance and enrichment programming to students * Lead one subject, choosing from recreational sports, multimedia, art, dance/cheer, visual/performing arts/theater, robotics, yearbook, and school newspaper * Provide academic assistance, intervention support, and recreational programming through facilitation of small student groups * Maintain daily attendance records and supervise assigned students to ensure that they are safe and that the program operates in an organized and effective manner * Ensure timely completion and submission of all relevant data, including early release forms, evaluations from students, and progress data as requested Qualifications * High school diploma (AA degree or at least two years of college coursework preferred) * Prior experience working with school-aged children in an academic or recreational setting * Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
* Fluency in a second language (preferred, Spanish and Korean as high-priority languages) * Extensive knowledge of age-appropriate classroom and behavior management skills and age-appropriate activities * Ability to lead groups of students in activities while placing a high priority on safety * Ability to work independently and with a team * Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, and students * A passion for working with youth Job Type: Part-time Pay: From $20.
