DIVINE Sterling Silver & Enamel Filigree Cigarette Case.-Gold Gild - $375 (Downey)

Excellent Condition DIVINE Sterling Silver & Enamel Filigree Cigarette Case.
-Gold Gilded​​​ This is a lovely solid silver gold gilded "Vermeil" filigree cigarette case made in Portugal circa 1900.
It is decorated with highly intricate scrolls displayed in overlapped petals and adorned to both sides with red and white enameled crosses.
The Order of Christ Cross is the emblem of the historical "Order of Christ", (also called Christ's Knights Order) of Portugal, used in the sails of the Portuguese carracks during the Discoveries.
The high quality and heavy silverwork is perfect as well as the divine gold gilding Vermeil, the enamel panels are in very good condition but for a chip to the red enamel of one of the crosses.
It is hallmarked to the clasp.
It measures 4 1/2" long by 3 1/4" wide.
