Campus Life, a division of Student Affairs, provides leadership and administrative oversight for multiple units including the Community Programs Office (CPO), the Office of Student Organizations, Leadership, and Engagement (SOLE), Recreation and Wellbeing, Veteran Services, Fraternity & Sorority Life, LGBTQ Campus Resource Center (LGBTQ), Spirit Squad, Volunteer Center, Commuter Support Services, Student Organization Funding, Outreach & Retention student-initiated projects, Respondent Services and Student Alumni Programs & Family Engagement, with annual revenues and expenditures approaching $40M.
Under the direction of the Deputy Director to the Associate Vice Chancellor of Campus Life, the Senior Financial Analyst provides support for the Division of Campus Life.
The role directly supports fund management, budget preparation, analysis, and revenue management for client departments as assigned and provides support and oversight in all aspects of budget and finance.
The Senior Financial Analyst participates in strategic planning activities and serves as the division's liaison to other campus departments relating to a full range of financial matters.
Duties include projecting revenue and expenses and conducting variance analysis for the preparation of annual budgets, reports, and funding requests; tracking staffing and operating expenses; managing fiscal closing activities; and making recommendations to management to ensure healthy financial balances.
This role works closely with department directors, business officers, and purchasing/HR staff throughout the division and provides support in the areas of business process analysis and design, procedure testing and implementation, and the delivery of quality customer service to various constituencies.
Funds under management of the Senior Financial Analyst include general state funds, student services fees, student self-assessed referenda fees, sales & service, other sources, University of California Office of the President funds, California state funds, grants, and gift/foundation accounts.
The incumbent serves as a subject matter expert and supports Student Affairs initiatives and functions as assigned.
The role also provides critical support to Ascend 2.
0, the university financial system replacement project and other system implementations including participation in campus work groups, leading Student Affairs change management groups, conducting trainings, and providing hyper-care support post go-live.

Required Ability to correlate and identify available fiscal resources with programmatic needs and formulate recommendations regarding priorities and funding allocation.
Required Expert skill in reconciliation of transactions and resolving errors and discrepancies.
Proven ability using organizational skills to multi‐task in a high-volume environment.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
Required Thorough knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
Thorough knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems.
Understanding of internal control practices and SAS115, internal audit and risk analysis.
Required Ability to communicate clearly and concisely using proper English (verbally, electronically, written form) to give instructions and obtain information; write business correspondence, proposals, policies, and evaluations; convey accurate and timely information to individuals at various organizational levels; and to effectively represent the needs/views of the Department.

Required Advanced ability using spreadsheet and database software for complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports and other "rigid" systems such as campus payroll and billing/accounts receivable systems.
Ability to run queries, extract and analyze accounting information from an automated financial system, create Excel Spreadsheets and prepare customized reports for management decisions.
Required Skill in planning, preparing and administration of a multi-million-dollar budget, and long-range forecasting of expenditures, income, and potential revenue sources, and developing and presenting related reports, funding requests and other documents.
Required Skill in working as part of a team, leading a team, and collaborating effectively with colleagues.
Required Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
Required Working knowledge of University financial systems such as Bruin Buy Plus, Online Financial System reports, Concur Travel Reimbursement, Transfer of Funds, NPEAR, Recharge Order Request, CDW, CBIG, and ability to access and use these systems for data assembly, manipulation, and analysis.
Can be trained Advanced degree in Business or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
