The South Bay Workforce Investment Board, Inc.
(SBWIB, Inc.
) is seeking an energetic and self-motivated Accounting Clerk to perform a variety of tasks, including payroll and other related tasks in support of our Fiscal Department.
The ideal candidate has great time-management and organizational skills, has an eye for detail and is able to work well under stress while efficiently juggling various tasks.
Ultimately, this person must be able to contribute to the accuracy and efficiency of our day-to-day tasks and the successful financial management of the department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Finance Manager, the duties of the Accounting Clerk include, but are not limited to, the following:
Perform payroll duties on a bi-weekly basis, including collecting and reviewing timesheets for completion, compiling payroll data for computing and correcting errors to ensure accuracy of submissions, assisting with calculating and inputting payroll deductions (e.
g.
deductions, garnishments, etc.
), and ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures etc.
Assist with day-to-day processing of accounts payable transactions to ensure timely and appropriate payments to vendors & employees
Perform a variety of record keeping functions, including preparation of financial reports in relation to payroll and AP on a monthly basis or as often as needed
Process and respond to EDD’s unemployment requests, garnishments, and/or employment verifications
Organize, file and maintain accurate payroll/accounting records, transactions and back up documentation
Perform other duties of a similar nature or level as required
Requirements:
Must have graduated from an accredited college or university with associate degree in accounting or a related field.
At least one (1) year of accounting related work experience, or any satisfactory combination of experience, education and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform duties (education may be substituted by experience on a year-for-year basis)
Must be able to successfully pass background and reference clearances and follow safety protocols enforced by the Company and as listed under the below working conditions
Must be knowledgeable and/or able to learn and understand the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), procedures, practices, terminology, regulations, and concepts
Experience or ability to work with accounting software like QuickBooks
Working knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Word, and virtual meeting platforms such as ZOOM, Teams, etc
Must be able to demonstrate dependability, promptness, punctuality, and professionalism and able to work in a team-orientated environment
Experience with Nonprofit accounting is a plus

Salary & Benefits
This is a full-time, nonexempt position (40 hours/week), generally with a starting hourly wage commensurate with experience.
The salary range for this role is $22.
27 - $26.
56 per hour.
