Get Paid $40 for a Virtual Reality Experiment! Participants Needed! (Playa Vista)

This experiment tests virtual reality maps in a simulated decision-making exercise.
In the experiment, you will wear a virtual reality Head Mounted Display (VR headset) and help characters make their way to a destination as they encounter obstacles along the way.
In addition to seeing the location of the characters on the map, local information will be presented (e.
g.
, weather, route information) as well as text messages from the fictional characters.
A virtual assistant will be simulated; you will interact with study staff verbally and by pressing buttons to guide the characters in the exercise.
The speed of the problem solving and quality of the solutions will be used to measure the effectiveness of the 3D visualization.
The VR headset may track eye movements (e.
g.
, what you look at in the virtual world and for how long).
Study Duration: The experiment will take approximately 60 minutes.
Compensation: $40 to cover time and travel paid via cash.
Location/Time: Sessions will be scheduled by appointment at the University of Southern California’s Institute for Creative Technologies Playa Vista office.
Who is eligible: Must be 18 years old or older, a fluent speaker of English, and without any impairment that would interfere with the viewing of moving images through a virtual reality headset.
