Job Description 1 Position Summary: Inspects forged bars, rings and/or rough machined parts, to ensure conformance to specifications by assisting the Chief Inspector and performing the following duties under little supervision and training.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities: Reads blueprints or engineering specifications to obtain product information such as specified material, surface finish, and dimensions.
Compares surface finish of workpiece to finish on set of standard blocks making fingertip touch comparison to ensure production of specified surface finish.
Measures dimensions such as length, height, and distance, between reference points to ensure product meets specifications.
Locates reference point on part and measures dimensions such as angle, arc, and radii.
Reports findings to Inspection Supervisor and, if necessary, write Inspection Deviation Report (IDR) if parts are not in conformance.
Sets up and tries out inspection equipment to ensure accuracy.
Substitutes known values such as dimensions from blueprints into standard formulas and solves for unknown quantities to determine dimensions not specified in blueprints.
Sets up portable CMM and related software.
Performs acceptance tests and evaluations with this equipment.
Uses forklifts and cranes to move heavy parts.
Required Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Ability to apply concepts of introductory algebra and geometry Ability to solve practical problems and deal with various concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret multiple instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Experience & Education High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or five years related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Employees will receive 80 hours paid time off every year.
