Job Overview: The Associate Engineer will be responsible for using engineering judgment to design new and rehabilitate existing conveyance pipelines, distribution pipelines, and treatment facilities including steel and concrete pipelines, underground shafts and tunnels, hydraulic structures, pumping plants, water treatment plants, pressure control structures, chemical tank farms, buildings, and buried structures such as large diameter pipelines, and reinforced concrete structures and other structures.
An Associate Engineer on the Pipeline Design Team is a journey level engineering position.
The work typically includes civil, pipeline, and/or structural design in accordance with building codes and the American Water Works Association (AWWA), preparation of plans, sections and details, and development of construction specifications.
Work includes assisting with project coordination and technical reports.

To view the full job description click here: Associate Engineer EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and four years of relevant experience, of which two years must have been at the Assistant Engineer II level; OR a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and two years of relevant experience which must have been at the Assistant Engineer II level.
A degree (Bachelors or Masters) in a related field is defined as: Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering Relevant Experience is defined as: Experience performing design or evaluation of structures, large diameter pipelines, tunnels, or tanks in accordance with building codes and/or AWWA.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS Employees in this position may be required to obtain and maintain the following certifications, licensing and registrations: License(s): Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
