The Microelectronics Technology Department (MTD) within PSL conducts reliability studies, anomaly resolution, failure analysis, and applied research in microelectronic and optoelectronic devices for space applications and provides technical support to national security space programs in these areas.
MTD is seeking a Microelectronics Device Reliability Engineer for the Electron Materials and Devices section, which focuses on failure analysis and materials and device characterization.
The section’s research and customer program support activities are well-established and supported by highly trained and accomplished staff.
Work Model This position will be located 100% onsite in El Segundo, CA.
Highlights of our lab's capabilities can be seen here: Aerospace Virtual Tours What You’ll Be Doing Provide technical support to national security space programs, internal and academic collaborators Conduct innovative basic and applied research in microelectronic device technologies and applications to space systems Present results of assessments/research internally, to customers, at scientific meetings, and publish research in refereed scientific journals Support the adoption and assessment of new technologies and applications, space systems, including reliability and radiation hardness Contribute to MTD technical projects by hands-on FIB, TEM, or XCT work or electrical fault isolation techniques.
Prepare written and oral reports of research activities and accomplishments, and present to higher management, internal colleagues and the broader scientific community This position is available as a Microelectronics Device Reliability Engineer (Sr.
Member of Technical Staff or Research Scientist) What You Need to be Successful Minimum Requirements Microelectronics Device Reliability Engineer – Sr.
Member of Technical Staff : Bachelor's degree in physics, materials science, electrical engineering or a closely related field is required 5 years of work experience in microelectronics or a closely related field Knowledge of advanced microelectronic and optoelectronic devices, materials and materials analysis Knowledge of and experience with device reliability, failure analysis, and destructive physical analysis Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of customers and corporate staff Willingness to occasionally travel within the U.

to support customer needs, approximately one bi-monthly trip (as required) This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance, which is issued by the U.
S.
government.
