The Solheim Assistant Director of Nursing (Assistant DON) contribute to the success of our team and community by effectively planning, organizing, coordinating, and directing the administration of nursing services in accordance with Federal, State, local requirements, and the objectives of Solheim’s policies.
ADON works in cooperation with the team and all departments to ensure the provision of quality care and the highest degree of resident and family satisfaction in support of the Mission and Vision of Solheim and in accordance with Federal, State, and local guidelines.
_*On a typical day, the ADON at Solheim may take ownership of or assist in:*_ * Management of the Department of Nursing, including hiring and evaluation of staff.
* Evaluate and act on complaints, failed audits, and staff issues.
* Plan resource utilization and care interventions according to available data and known trends.
* Conduct care plan IDT meetings.
* Complete, update, and revise care plan in Matrix Care.
* Participates in Behavioral Management meeting.
* Attends weekly PDPM meeting, issues and follow up Skilled Nursing Facility Advance Beneficiary Notice of Non-coverage (SNFABN) * Provide education and assistance to the treatment nurse.
* Report resident clinical condition during daily stand-up meeting.
* Assists clinical assessments, MDS and Care Plans, as necessary.
* Assists with completion of admissions and discharges.
Participates in all screening processes prior to admission.
Assesses items needed by the facility to meet resident needs.
* Works with DON, MDS Coordinator, and Social Services Director in assessment of health, psychosocial, rehabilitation and environmental needs of residents.
* Provides techniques necessary to care for residents with the following needs: neuro and dementia, dialysis, IV therapy, infectious disease and wound care, if applicable.
* Assists with licensed staff training and education, including orientation, in-service, counseling and evaluation of performance of staff initially, ongoing and annually.
* Assists with identification, evaluation and implementation of weaning process, including, G-tube, pain medication, and indwelling catheter.
* Assists with handling personnel problems and employee relations.
* Under the direction of the DON, ensure that a sufficient number of qualified supervisory and supportive nursing personnel are assigned for each unit/shift to meet the resident needs and the required PPD ratio.
* Participates in conferences with staff, residents and responsible parties as dictated by State & Federal regulations as well as staff or resident concerns.
Assists with ensuring Nursing Department compliance with all Federal, State, and corporate regulations and guidelines.
* Participates in quality improvement processes and the implementation of short and long-range plans for the Nursing Department.
* Working closely with the DON, makes rounds upon entering the building each day.
Checks each nursing unit for staffing, census, unstable residents, accidents and incidents, etc.
Implements plans to correct grooming concerns, if necessary.
* Monitors and conduct IDT review nof incident reports for proper documentation and initiates investigations as needed.
* Performs other duties or functions as assigned by the DON and/or Administrator.
* In the absence of the DON, provides direction to RN’s, LVN’s, and CNA’s/RNAs, carrying out all supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; conducting competencies; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

*Desired Qualifications / Requirements:* * High school graduate or equivalent (_*required*_) * Bachelor's Degree (_*preferred*_) * Graduate of an accredited nursing school and currently licensed as an RN in California (_*required*_) * 1 - 2 years of experience in a clinical setting (_hospital / skilled nursing / RCFE_) working with ill, aged and/or disabled persons (_*preferred*_) * Computer proficiency (_*required*_) Job Type: Full-time Pay: $110,000.
