WSP USA is seeking a Lead Consultant (Electrical) for our multi-disciplinary Property & Buildings’ Team in our Los Angeles, CA office.
The Lead Consultant shall provide and participate in decision making efforts for all project-related technical and financial issues as well as possess a full understanding of the client’s project requirements.
This position has a high level of responsibility of interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating engineering projects of small to mid-size.
Your Impact Advanced knowledge of the technical expertise required to design and implement the particulars of mid-size projects.
Design electrical systems for projects, ensuring data integrity and work is compliant with all applicable codes, standards, ordinances, and regulations.
Apply high-level electrical engineering techniques and processes to identify improvements for various buildings’ project phases including concept development, Schematic design, design development, construction document, bidding, construction, and operation.
Review electrical calculations for loads, equipment sizing, short circuit study, protective device coordination, one-line diagram development, and equipment room/yard layouts.
Develop and review plans, specifications, cost estimates, construction safety and phasing plans that require coordination with owner, other disciplines, sub-consultants, and clients.
Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a confident and professional manner.
Remain current in latest electrical engineering techniques and practices.
Responsible for supervising junior staff and collaborating with all staff on regular basis on projects.
Work closely with our clients to maintain and/or further develop our relationships while helping to develop new business opportunities.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Architectural Engineering.
7 to 10 years of relevant post education experience as an electrical engineer providing design deliverables for buildings or site development projects.
Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
Proficient with electrical engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues.
Extensive knowledge of buildings’ electrical systems design.
Knowledge of Electrical and related California Building Codes.
Knowledge of Green Building practices and LEED Rating Systems.
Knowledge and good understanding of AGI32 or Visual (or similar) software.
Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
Demonstrated high-level of self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
Works independently with minimal oversight and provides guidance and leadership to junior engineers or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC.
Highly proficient with technical writing, office automation, discipline-specific design software (i.
e.
, Revit, AutoCADD electrical), technology, math principles, spreadsheets, and tools.
Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Preferred Qualifications: LEED Certification.
Experience on healthcare projects and knowledge of OSHPD preferred.
Experience with the Life Sciences market, project and specific market sector experience is preferred.
Effective knowledge and understanding to use EnergyPRO.

Compensation: Expected Salary (all locations): $111,500 - $165,500 WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
