Under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer, The Director of Dental Services is responsible for the daily operations of the Dental Department.
The incumbent in this position shall review medical records and procedures of the Dental Department for compliance with acceptable quality assurance standards and licensing guidelines on a regular basis.
Consults and acts as a resource for Center dentists and clinical personnel.
Participates in hiring of dentists as well as peer reviews.
Essential Job Duties:
Acts as a resource person for providers in all clinical departments on issues related to dentistry.
Provides consultation, guidance and supervision of dentists and dental staff in the department.
Oversees, evaluates and makes recommendations for the provision of dental care in the department.
Reviews medical records for completeness and accuracy and quality of care provided.
Works closely with the Chief Medical Officer to ensure compliance to licensing requirements and to Standards of Practices for the department.
Provides or coordinates in-service(s)and case conferences for the staff in the department.
Coordinates, conducts and participates in the Quality Assurance program and activities of the department and the Center.
Participates in the Center’s medical/dental advisory committee.
Assists the Chief Medical Officer in the hiring, credentialing, evaluating, counseling and/or firing of dental providers for the department.
Assists the Chief Medical Officer in establishing and implementing a system of peer review, pursuant to written procedures.
Assists the Chief Medical Officer in the development, implementation, review and/or revision of policies and procedures pertinent to the department.
Provides input to the Chief Medical Officer on range of dental issues/activities that require administrative approval or decision.
Consults as needed with the Center’s Chief Medical Officer on general dental issues and concerns.
Works closely with the Chief Medical Officer Chief Medical Officer in a range of activities and proposals that require Board of Directors’ consideration and approval i.

, new dental programs and services, budget recommendations relative to dental equipment, supplies and staffing requirements.
Position Requirements:
Five years experience in the general practice of dentistry.
A degree from a recognized dental school with a current licensure as a Dentist in California.
A thorough knowledge of acceptable medical record keeping administrative and dental procedures.
Experience in the supervision or reviewing of dental services and practices and medical office administration.
