We are looking for dynamic and engaging teachers to deliver our programs at our Burbank and Glendale learning centers and on school campuses in the area.
As an Instructor at Sylvan, your primary responsibilities are: Just Teaching.

We offer competitive compensation with rates ranging from $18-$22/hour.
ADDITIONAL travel stipends are provided PER DAY that travel is made to a school site.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Supervise, interact with, and motivate students in the classroom.
Reward students for completed assignments to help build their confidence.
Evaluate and document student progress to help track their growth.
Communicate student needs to the center director to ensure individual learning plans.
Inspire and develop a rapport with students to help them reach their full potential.
Establish a fun learning environment that fosters creativity and confidence.
Maintain a positive attitude and demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching and Sylvan to inspire students.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED We are seeking candidates with: Previous tutoring experience preferred A four-year degree or equivalent is preferred.
State or provincial teaching credentials are a plus.
We are especially looking for teachers with knowledge of phonics and reading comprehension, as well as an understanding of teaching math concepts.
A fun and enthusiastic teaching style, ability to motivate students, and positive attitude are also important.
Teachers must have availability to work weekdays in the afternoon/early evening hours.
Flexibility is a plus, and the ability to work on weekends is helpful.
