*Recess Coach* Job Description and Duties *\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_* *Title:* Recess Coach *Job Summary:* Pressman Academy is seeking a recess coach and supervisor who is committed to establishing functional play during the recess block.
The right candidate will come to understand the current challenges faced at recess, and implement a range of solutions specifically designed to create a positive and functional recess experience.
The recess supervisor and coach has two main job functions: providing support and accountability to the teachers supervising recess, and serving as a facilitator of prosocial play at recess in the capacity of recess coach.
Coaching Duties: * Encourage students to engage in a variety of games at recess that are supportive of their developmental age and stage * Proactively create systems and routines that help create a smooth and functional recess block * Actively monitor and pause gameplay when needed in order to have necessary and restorative coaching conversations with children * Support the teaching teams when there are social situations that need extra monitoring, and share insights to teaching team about student dynamics on the yard when needed Athletic Department: As a member of the Pressman Academy Athletic Department, the Recess Supervisor & Coach will: * Work under the direction and advisement of the Athletic Director * Step in to substitute teach in the athletic department as needed * Attend department meetings, faculty meetings, and professional development as determined by the Athletic Director Preferred Experience * Preferred experience coaching middle school sports, specifically basketball and volleyball * Experience working with elementary aged children in a sports capacity Compensation * Part-time position, 9am-2:30pm Monday through Friday * Hourly position: $20-$21/hour, experience dependent * Due to the part-time nature of the position, it does not qualify for benefits.
