Child Care Center Assistant

Description The UCLA Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital is seeking to hire a part-time Child Care Center Assistant for the Department of Psychiatry.
You will assist program nurses and unit activities and lead therapists wit therapeutic activities.
Primary duties include: * Implementing behavioral and skill development programs in individual or small group situations * Implementing behavioral management programs for each patient * Providing appropriate feedback to patients determined by teacher or lead therapists * Setting and enforcing appropriate limits on patients’ social and emotional behavior in the classroom through standard classroom management techniques * Instructing patients in basic developmental or academic skills, employing materials, and curriculum methods * Assisting with instructing patients in basic self are and daily living skills such as toileting, self feeding, hygiene, and dressing skills * Implementing various recreational or socialization activities with patients on the unit * Completing weekly patient’s progress notes Salary: $20.

21/hr Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, or related field (preferred) Prior experience working with young developmentally disabled children in both unit and school settings Knowledge of educational and psychological characteristics of developmentally disabled and emotionally disturbed children/adolescents Knowledge of state and local criteria for eligibility of LD and ED children/adolescents for special education programs or related services Ability to learn specific techniques to provide instruction and manage behaviors for young developmentally disabled children Skill in assessing children/adolescents using standard individual achievement or developmental tests Skill in evaluating children/adolescents’ school functioning and progress through interpretation of interdisciplinary or psycho-educational reports and behaviors observations Skill in planning, development, and implementation of educational programs, curriculum materials and methods to be used
